I know I bashed the old boy around a bit, but looking at him from a perspective, we actually have someone who is great for us.
Barring any steroid use (controversy) in his career, or big injuries, here's what I see:
He's 33 years old now.
He has another good 6 years left, in which he will be 38-39 years old in his sixth season, starting this next year.
As a Yankee, he has 208 HR's.
As a MLBP, he has 553 HR's.
If he averages 34.8 HR's a year (and you know he'll surpass that in the next three years), then he will surpass steroid cheating bonds out of the books eventually.
He only needs 210 more home runs to break it.
He can do this in a 'Yankee uniform' for one and he should/could end his Yankee career with at least 400 HR's.
And I think this is going to be the year that he finally contributes to winning a W.S. Especially now that we have been bolstering our pitching staff. You can't be a Yankee great if you don't have one of those rings around your finger, right?
If we get Manny or Tex behind A-Rod, then they'll HAVE' to pitch to him!
I'll never trust this' team again.
