How many teams could use this guy? He has impacted both the Knicks and the Clippers in terms of W-L. His perceived value is probably some of his own doings BEFORE he even came to the Knicks and exacerbated by Isiah Thomas. But in reality--all of these teams like Chicago Miami etc.. I probably could name 20 of them in retrospect must be kicking themselves for not offering more and the Knicks likely traded him way to soon to get fair value. Zach Thomas value IMHO should be on par right now with an all star level NBA big man meaning two number 1 picks young players and ending contracts.

It's water under the bridge now and we have cap room to be players in the 2010 FA market...so whatever it is, it is.

Yeah, it was one of those conundrums. I mean, basically nobody wanted him when we picked him up and you can just look at what we gave up for him. So, teams knew he could score and must have said this year "Is it worth the chance?" There will always be the hindsight bug. But throw this in the hindsight machine, would Zach have ended up injured playing till the deadline in this system? It is possible, he did sit out a game or two didn't he?

Personally, if nothing was available to LA outside of Zach we probably should have sat on it and gotten a 1st round pick out of it, as you said. But remember, earlier in the year they wanted a first rounder out of us.

So, as opposed to what we got back or rather didn't, did we do what we wanted to do in the end? We were looking at him as a 2010 hindrance and not as an asset.

a few months ago people were begging Walsh to trade our draft pick away just to get rid of him. He was called a cancer among other nice things.

Zach always plays hard. He's an ahole but so is DJ and we tolerate him. DW got a fine deal for him, Cuttino aside. Hopefully we get some kind of exception there we can use for a good player

His value is, was, and always will be expiring contracts. I liked Zach but nobody was going to morgage their future and their cap space by giving us two lottery picks and some young studs.

it would have been nice to get a pick from the clippers after the mobley thing went down. i can't fathom how dunleavy's reaction was "he's healthy, i don't know what they're talking about" instead of concern for one of his recent players.

that said, zach's value as a player is offset by his crippling contract. it's 25% of the cap basically. that's a lot. i'm glad to see he's doing well tho

maybe we can trade Harrington away for the same picks and young studs. He has a much friendlier contract.

Yeah and it was well outlined by numerous people why his stats are a mirage and it was a great trade not just cap space wise but team chemistry wise.

Some will never understand though as they stay in love with his pts/rebs box scores and crawful's crossover and be upset that both clowns were traded INSTEAD of being happy that our team is worlds better without them.

Well, whatever I guess, can't get through to brick walls I suppose.

The Clippers? Posts about an aknowledged ahole's affect on the Clippers? Isn't this a franchise that will be playing it's home games in Rapid City some day soon?

Bye Bye Z-bo, it was nice knowin ya. Thanks for not burning down Scores before it closed down. Have a great pointlessly pointful career. Text George McGinnis and see if he can teach you how to tap each rebound with both hands off your skull so you get 3 R's per incident.

You regs still make reading and posting an exercise in nausea.

Zach was traded to the Knicks for the immortal Channing Frye and Stevie Franchise so the God like Kevin Pritchard made basically the same deal the Knicks cut for him 1-year later. I think 2 trades in 2-years for approximately the same value sets the standard for Zach's value despite what people want to tell themselves.

Bottom line -- Zach's got personality, night life and contract baggage --- that baggage may weigh less as time passes or he could get dinged up or mess up again.

I'm happy with what we received for Zach and I'm happy with the options we now have down the road.
