quote from article:
And D'Antoni revealed Robinson is in line to become the team's starting shooting guard the rest of the season once he gets couple of games in him now that Cuttino Mobley officially retired with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

This is going to get interesting... thoughts?
So basically Robinson is getting Crawfords role. He is more efficient than Crawford was and plays better defense. I think it could be an upgrade and something to look forward to seeing.

Also, this is interesting because, as Marc suggests (not that I like him though), Q goes to the bench, Wilson stays as SF with Al at the 4 and Lee at the 5. This means Jefferies would probably back Lee up and to an extent Al and Wilson (and a little SG and PG on occasion).
The Knicks New York Knicks have also experimented with Wilson Chandler Wilson Chandler at shooting guard, but it's Robinson's job to lose. Robinson tried coming back nine days but the groin tightened at halftime and he had to shut it down.

The starting lineup, D'Antoni envisions, has Robinson-Duhon in the backcourt with Wilson Chandler at small forward, Al Harrington and power forward and David Lee David Lee at center. The three-man bench will be Jared Jeffries Jared Jeffries , Richardson, whose struggled shooting-wise at times, and Tim Thomas.

Well I don't know. I thought the lineup we had now was doing very well. Al gets off early. Q plays a mix of a team game and shooter. Duhon and Lee working their magic.

Injecting Robinson changes the entire flow of the starting unit and I think it means the "bench" continues to suffer from scoring. Also starting Nate, the guy who is supposed to give Duhon breathers, with Duhon changes a number of things.

Does this mean Duhon now sits at an earlier time, Nate to point, and Q comes in at SG?

I just don't know if I like that. I think Nate is best off the bench. I think this might disrupt Duhon and even Harrington because Nate does like to score.

I'd rather Q starts, sits first, Nate in at SG for a while, then Duhon sits, Nate slides to point, Q back in at the 2.....type scenario.

I think that benefits Duhon the most.

Just what I've always wanted, a 5'7 Shooting Guard. Only a foot shorter than alot of guy's he'll be guarding.

MDA just doesn't seem to care on any level care about size mismatches on any level. Which I'm ok with for now, but how does Nate defend Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant. I guess it'll be Mugsey Bogues-Magic Johnson all over again. And I used to think John Starks had post up problems with SG's!

He will be an improvement over Q-brick.

I hadn't even thought of the defensive side of things. Yeah, it just isn't a good idea to start Duhon and Nate imo. Q can stink it up but it's better for the team to have a legit sized player at the 2 and bring in the spark plug off the bench.

Whether we think it's a good or bad move, maybe it's not a bad time to try out a few lineups. If we are going to go mostly with the current roster Mike is just thinking let's try some different looks. I think the players can see it's all in the teams best interests. He seems to be well liked so at least we don't have to worry about an Isiah like Mutiny.

Also, trying some different looks might help them to better see what kind of player it is they need (with a roster spot open).

To test a lineup you don't have to start it though. I like our starting chemistry. You can always try the other lineup at any other point in the game as a test.

I'm guessing that's what Mike will do the next few games regardless.

I'm surprised he came right out and said Nate will start in a few games though. That's odd.

i don't like the idea of starting Nate at SG... him & Duhon will combine for the smallest backcourt in the NBA... our frontcourt is undersized enough as it is... i would much rather keep Q starting at the 2 & play Nate as my energy 6th man G off the bench.

Q at the 2 actually gives us a mismatch in our favor, which we don't enjoy anywhere else... we need to exploit that & not put 5'9" Nate in & expect him to D up on guys that are 8-10 inches taller than him.

I don't like this idea. The best thing about Robinson is that he can back up both positions, giving Duhon a breather and being the energy spark off the bench. But as a starter, and he already has been that, he is less of an impact.

Q should remain the starter at 2. He may not be the best shooting option but he is an able body that sometimes gets hot with his shot.

And this comes from Berman, so I won't believe it until I see it. Nate is returning from an injury and all of a sudden he is a starter? Huh?

In D'Antoni we trust.

I doubt MDA would start Nate so soon after an injury. I think this is something he's looking at down the line as Nate get's back into shape. Still It's not the end of the world to give this a try and see how it works. MDA likes to spread the floor and more importantly actually have guys that can hit the open 3. Nate is a far better 3pt shooter than Q. That would mean we'd have 4 guys who can hit from 3 and at least 3 of them can hit for a good %. Nate, Duhon and Al. Chan is not yet as solid, but he does have that kind of range. Personally I like big guards, but Nate is such a special player that he's a bit of an exception.

Eh. I feel you, but I don't want Nate to EVER start. Ever. He just seems like the perfect talent, demeanor to be a 6th man. Like Manu.

Hey, the experiment went extremely well tonight.

My question is, what happened to Q?

Yeah, 19 points on over 50% shooting with a couple of rebounds and 3 assists. 2 TO's isn't to bad to boot.
Well, he was out there when the massacre began (albeit against a terrible team), but let's see what Nate does against the Suns.
This will be personal, and not just for the coach...
