I've been waiting for something to explain what is going on with these situations and here it is...
As for the mundane post-retirement matters, Walsh said he's in no hurry to fill Mobley's roster spot and not to assume that he'll automatically give it to Patrick Ewing Jr.

In fact, Walsh said the process of finding out exactly what the Knicks' options are wouldn't begin until Friday (although he didn't say specifically whether he's been exploring them from a personnel standpoint).

Walsh did say he understands that the contract (which gurantees Mobley $9.1 million this season and $9.8 million next) is insured, so the Knicks would save some coin there.

But to the average fan, what matters now is when Mobley is replaced and with whom _ and Walsh said he's in no rush to do that because he doesn't want to make a move just to make one with a player that might not be as good as one he could get down the road.

He cited Mike D'Antoni's use of Wilson Chandler as a two-guard Wednesday in New Jersey and the expected return this weekend of Nate Robinson from his groin strain as reasons not to rush into any decision about finding a guard.

Nor, for the record, is he in any hurry to solve the Stephon Marbury situation, although he said he's been in touch with Marbury's Players Association representative and plans to continue buyout discussions.

That's great news. Look for Walsh to make an AWESOME decision after the New Year.

Also, Nate Rob is back! W00t!

Well, if we are in no need for a backup PG because of Nate and if we don't really need a some minutes at SG because of Chandler, then why not sign Ewing JR?
It would help to let him practice with the team. We could use his defense in spot situations..

But, I have a feeling we will have a new Knick between now and New Years. I hope it's Sergio as a backup PG but doubt it. I guess JR will be with the minor league team for a bit until the Marbury thing is resolved...

PEjr sucks, man. This is no time for nostalgia or idealism. He's 25 and still not in the league. He's a bum.

Poker master Donnie Walsh wants to have the roster spot open for other reasons. A trade could happen soon.

Bum is a bit harsh, especially to the son of a hall of famer who played for your team. 25 and still not in the league. He is an unsigned rookie.

You mention nostalgia and idealism, well, how much does fan reaction play into how a team plays? It seems a lot, though I wouldn't bring a player in just for that. He can play defense and is a GREAT athlete. He is an IQ player and doesn't need the ball to be effective. It seems like he can be the fan favorite like Balkman was and he doesn't need lots of minutes. Every team needs a player like that. Who do you prefer as 15th man, Malik? The emotion he can bring to the garden and the team can't be underestimated.

We are talking of him as a 15th man, not 8th. So Jerome, Malik, Marbury etc. need to free up roster space.

I don't like the idea of Chandler playing the 2 guard. By Chandler playing the 2 it will cause him to be tired and pick up early fouls. If he does play the 2 it should only be for a short period of time.

PE Jr is 25? Why? I mean, I know he went to IU for a year, but why else would he be an overaged rook?

Yep and we will sign him when they do. Right now a roster spot is acommodity that can be put to better use in trade possibly. This team is lacking many things so too worry about signing the future fifteenth man is not very high on Walsh's list as it shouldn't be.

I graduate college in May and I will be 22 so how the hell is this dude 24 or 25? I guess he is not the sharpest knife in the draw.

You could also look at it from a fiscal responsibility standpoint as well. The coin saved from Mobley's issured contract could equal the amount that they might lose on a Marbury buyout. At this point, Walsh has options with an open roster spot, the trade deadline isn't around the corner yet, we have players to get healthy to increase their tradeability, a trade exemption etc, possibilty of a two for one for one of our overpaid stiffs, and no glaring need for anything that wouldn't improve our team signifigantly. There's also the outside chance some team might get itchy for a Marbury trade as the deadline gets closer and the playoff race tightens up, you never know. You could say that this has opened up alot more possibilities than we had last week. PEJ will never be the answer as popular as he is.

I hear you on that. I was 21 when I graduated for my first degree. But, don't forget that some people take a year off before college. Sometimes switching majors makes it take longer too. It's tough to speculate. Of course, it's also possible he got left back in elementary school or something. I worked with people who were just out of school at 24, though, so I don't think it's that uncommon, for whatever reason. For one, I do recall asking why she was already 24 but just graduated and she never answered me.

right now that's our only choice... Roberson's not capable of giving u any effective minutes off the bench.

24, 25. You guys make it seem like I'm a retard. It's not that big of a deal. I assure you, I can add. And I won't list my mathematical credentials here.

Either way, you guys are latching on to him like he's the second coming of Christ. So what if his father is PE? Seriously. This guy is a scrub. If he was worth the hype all of you were giving him, he would be with another club already. 24 or 25, regardless, he's not in the league for a reason. He had one dunk in preseason, and everyone is on his ****. Get off it.
