This is the best I've ever seen him play (the last 7 games or so). I'm not going to purport to have followed this guy throughout his career, but he's been in the league for about 10 years now and I've never seen him play this well. He's driving to the basket confidently, shooting the rock, getting to the line and scoring at will. He's played in a wide open system before (golden st.), but right now, more than ever, he has really found a comfort zone playing for D'Antoni.

Is he ready to turn a corner, so many years later, and really emerge as an all-star? I fully admit, I have not been a big believer in his before, but he's still only 28. Maybe he still has a chance to thrive.

Probably getting to excited, but D'Antoni has already gotten 1 or two guys to really "transform."

he's definitely playing the best ball of his career & proving all the doubters wrong about him w/each passing game... i have no idea where all the "garbage" labels on this guy come from to begin with.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Good post Des.

Harrington is playing great right now, whether it's his midrange game, taking it to the hoop or his 3pt stroke. It's just all working. Couple that with his boarding and you're talking about a special type player. I agree with you that I've never thought all that much of him either myself, I always thought he was kind of a chucker, but after watching him for all these games, I think I was wrong.

If nothig else, Donnie will be able to flip him for something else when the time comes and it'll be for something better than the Jamal Crawford type that he was dealt for.

It would be interesting to see Harrington play on a complete team, by this I mean a team with a solid starting lineup and bench. So far he has been very good. Tonight he was amazing because he mixed up his inside and outside game. If he does that consistently there will be no doubt he has turned the corner. But he tends to rely in his outside game many times and looks not so good.

Now, if/when we have the team healthy and the rotation balanced and set, it would be nice to see how he works it out.

Not a bad player to have when rebuilding. He keeps this level of play and may lead to either staying in NY (what he wants) or the Knicks trade him for a VERY nice package (not bad for a rebuilding team).

He's flat out amazing out there in the Mike D system. He is on fire, he is full of fire, he loves being a Knick, he's a great teammate.

For anyone missing Crawful...I gotta ask...what the hell is there to miss!?

AMAZING trade by Donnie Walsh!!! AMAZING!!!

AND....You also gotta give it up for the other home town kid TIM THOMAS. I know a lot of people hate this guy but he plays hard, he tries hard, he loves being a Knick, is a great teammate.

What is NOT to like about this!!!!

My god! We look so much better without Zach/Craw it's AMAZING. I wanted those two gone but I never expected those returned in trade to be so good! If we had a healthy Cat...we'd be flat out great out there!

Walsh and Mike D have been an absolute godsend!

He could NOT be stopped going to the rack tonight. I know he had Yi on him for a while, but this guy was relentless and he was driving to the rack starting out from the top of the key and 18-20 feet out. Not bad for a 6'9 245 lb guy.

You said it, Cosmic, he LOVES BEING A KNICK.

I think that also has something to do with his play of late. He seems focused on making the right plays and taking this team to W's.

I threw up the 'Is Al a keeper?' post about 2-3 weeks ago when I saw the signs and to be honest, he's even exceeded expectations from that point. Now that the rust is off and he's in game shape, it's obvious he's a damn good player. Like you Des. I haven't followed him that closely the past few years. Knew he had some talent, but I never expected he could have this type of impact. He's the best player on this team right now. Chandler should study this guy every game and try his best to emulate him - I would love for Chandler to become the next Harrington or at least play with Harrington's type of aggresiveness and passion (Chandler's a good young player but still seems a little too passive and 'just glad to be in the NBA' to me at times). Al's inability to play for Don Nelson kinda reminds me of the Vince Carter transformation after he wore out his welcome in Toronto a few years back. Tremendous trade by Donnie!

Harrington is a perfect fit for D'Antoni's system, just like TT is to an extent, and Chandler.

I think Mike would love to have 3-4 guys in the 6'9" range who are great outside shooters, can take their man off the dribble and know how to pass.

Well, I didn't see the game tonight, but if he gets to the stripe 16 times a night from now on... then yes.

He's a great talent, just needs to play like he's got balls. Big balls.

Oh no you don't!!! I can't prove it (I'm not digging for the threads)but I have been posting Al Harrington threads as well. You not gonna get all "Briggs" on me and try to take my shine!!!

ah....just kidding.....but yeah al harrington sure doesnt look like the Harrington I remember seeing over the years. This guy is really good all around, and he is very quick great off the dribble.....he's shocking the hell out of me.

Let's not jinx the guy. Let him do his thing and just watch in amazement. No threads like these where we are propping these guys up on a pedestal only to see them fall again. I have faith in Al but I'm also superstitious. Keep this on the downlow.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I remember that post and I was pretty much in the "hell no" category on him as a keeper, but he has way exceeded my expectations.

SINCE we had bernard king, I have not seen a forward on this team, actually make that many shots without missing a bunch.LOL.. against the bulls he shot 61% and last night 52%.. He looked great.. the nets had no answer...

Chandler shot the ball very well also..

I think the players are just enjoying the 7 man rotation. It allows them to put up crazy amounts of shots knowing that they aren't going to get yanked out of the rotation anytime soon. Al seems like a guy who hasn't seen a shot he didn't like.
