Knick fans,

Can we agree that we need to get Marc Berman off the Knick beat?

He is the worst beat writer in town and he is clearly trying to instigate drama in the lockeroom. Marbury fan or not, his stories all center around him and makes it part of his agenda to give bad press to Knick fans.

I think we should all sign some kind of letter and send it to the Post outlining his infractions, and vow never to click on any of the ad banners in the NY Post's sports section as long as he continues to keep giving daily and unnecassry Marbury updates to the world. Its only hurting the fanbase.

I'm going to post this on other sites and see what we can get accomplished

i think the NY Post editors have to be aware of how much their hometown hates him. He gets all these hits on his blog from people cussing him out....abd he probably just looks good from all the hits.

If we tell the editors that the hits don't mean anything because we ignore the ads and then tell the advertisers, we may be on to something. It's been long overdure.

Look at this jerk's latest blog. He can't stop instigating this marbury thing

well, does someone want to draft a letter and we can all state our support of it, then the link could be emailed to the editors?

I'm with you bro....maybe we all should write a letter to the editors...

simply not buying the paper isn't gonna stop it cuz the paper is gonna be read regardless since so many people are brainwashed to purchase it off reflex.

How does an online pettion sound?

I'm sure all the other papers would get a real kick out of this and will probably cover it. I bet Alan Hanhn would even have an entire blog entry on this because of the "beef" they seem to have

A Draft - for the polite version (feel free to cut apart and change)

Mr Berman

I have a lot of respect for the level you have been able to achieve as a sportswriter. You have access to information and players that only a select few are granted. That is a tremendous opportunity for nuanced critique and creativity.

Unfortunately, there may also be a time to step back and evaluate whether your perspective has been tainted by being too close. The point being, despite your access to Stephon Marbury you may be missing one critical point, fewer and fewer people care to read about him. The New York Knicks are changing for the better and you, and most writers have not read the tea leaves accurately.

No matter how short the Knicks may be on talent or depth, the Wizards and Pistons games did not lack effort. (the Cavs are that good) So while the remaining guys are still getting acquainted, the gradual process of building a new team will not be pretty, especially with the Marbury sub-plot - but for the guys who stick it out...and for those who only complain...

I would offer that the Walsh "real-time" acquisition of Al Harrington and Tim Thomas is proving to be a visionary one. Harrington is embracing both being home and the leadership role. Tim Thomas was actually spotted making a move towards the hoop. The defense is more cohesive and will improve as the players gain trust.

I like the fact The Seven are competing short-handed and have moved on without Marbury. I like Duhon hitting Lee with the bounce pass and The Mayor (Wilson Chandler) finding his voice by draining a clutch three-pointer. I even like Quentin using his big butt to his advantage at guard. No one mentioned Jeffries taking a hard charge the second game back from a broken leg. No one mentioned David Lee's 19 rebounds. No one mentioned the way Al Harrington chased 'Sheed around like he stole something.

D'Antoni is not the smiling stereotype that the press has been spoon feeding us. He is a hard-working, take-no-nonsense, "I'll play your butt 48 minutes if that's what it takes to get a win" type of dude.

The Walsh masterstroke of exchanging the extra-large playing personality/ego of Crawford and Randolph leaves room for the remaining players to grow into new roles. It allows D'Antoni to creatively refine the roles.

Marbury to Real Madrid? I could care less about rumors or hoaxes. Forget Marbury... for those 7 hard-working Knicks players who have started to slowly bond, despite the drama, I thank them for the effort against the odds.

You might want to step off the political podium for a moment and report on basketball strategy and tactics for a change. You are missing a good game from a franchise on the mend.

You have been put on notice by serious basketball fans of The NYKnicks.

All the post cares about is if you read the articles. They could care less if you like Berman or not. Why would that matter to them? As long as you read and respond to his articles you are just fueling the fire. That is why he keeps writing what he writes becasue he knows he can get a reaction. If everyone stopped reading him his career would go down in flames. But all you haters secretly love him and that is why everytime he writes you read it and then comment about it. You are actually making his career stronger.

bippity - if you want to remain silent. Cool. No one is forcing you to say anything. You are free to sit on the sidelines and talk amonst yourselves.

Let the grown men handle it.

I agree with Bip - Berman does what the rest of the Post does. Their whole thing is to piss people off and get people to go back and see how pissed off they can be everyday. It's the lowest form of journalism, but so long as you read it, you are playing his game. They only want you to read it, they don't care if you agree with them or if you like it. If you read it because you are mad and think it's ridiculous, they still get the hits or the sales of papers for their ad rates.

Bill Simmons has made a career out of the same sort of thing - baiting New York fans by making fun of them relentlessly. Everytime he disses the Knicks or Isiah or D'Antoni we all click the link and read it and get outraged, but Simmons gets the hit count higher.

Can we just push him into traffic?

The equivalent of that is to just not click on any of his articles. If nobody clicks on his blog the admins will see he gets no hits and he'll be discontinued. Combine it with hate mail and it's a certainty.

He's clearly insane for whatever reason but just IGNORE him and he will go away. It's a cliche that holds water. Ignore it and it will go away.

Keep clicking, replying to his blog, reading his crap? He gets his paycheck and continues onward.

The only way to end him is to make him irrelevant. TO do that you must ignore it and stop talking about it and never read a damn thing he writes.

He'll fade away quickly. Look how quickly Vecsey has faded away? You barely see an article from that clown anymore.

Bill Simmons got Isiah mad enough to want to kick his ass in the street. He's pretty good.

Nice letter man. Is there a way we can have this signed by Knick fans and sent to him as well as the NY Post editors? Theres gotta be a way

What do you mean remaining silent? I personally don't have a problem with what he says. I understand the media. If your goal is to have him hear your distaste than sure speak up and call him names etc. But if you want him to stop writign what he does, than stop reading. It's the quickest way to change, but no one does it. Eventually even Berman will move on fromm Marbs, but it won't be because of a petition or the daily fans that call him names on his thread. He loves that stuff. The reporters love that stuff. That's why they write what they do, and don't write about the strategy and team stuff we crave. Because the controversy gets more readers and more of a response. We are feeding them.

The NY Post is a tabloid rag. Look at the rest of their coverage. They don't get indepth on politics or entertainment or anything. The reporting style is the same throughout - soundbites wrapped in bias and sensationalism. Berman is a perfect fit for the Post.

If you want real Knicks coverage, we've got Newsday and the NY Times and occasionally the Daily News.

Yup. the post isn't concerned with some crazed fan calling Berman names. They are concerned with how many people click on the link to that article. As long as we are all clicking they will support Mark. The way to really voice your opinion is to stop reading. If the clicks go down, Berman goes down.
