If Mobley no longer can play, the Knicks will look to add a guard. Walsh has a trade exception from the Renaldo Balkman deal with Denver that is worth approximately $1 million. The Knicks could use that to acquire Portland's Sergio Rodriguez or Sacramento's Quincy Douby.

I would welcome both these guys to the team.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Do you thing Portland would take that? They are running a surplus of talent. I wonder if there is a better player available in the dleague for this team though.
I am really wondering about Roberson too. With our injuries and his bad play and mostly poor shooting, I'd rather put PE Jr on this team. Done deal after Marbury and Mobley are resolved.

No we can't have PEjr. He's not a good human, he is a CRAP human.

But as far as Sergio, I'd love to have that fella. He can score, pass, shoot the three if you need him to for the championship.

Roberson - if you check his stats, he is shooting better than Sergio. About the same amount of steals per min played.

On the Knicks, Roberson is 2nd in steals per min played. So he must also be doing something well on Defense.

Roberson is streaky, as are most shooters. But he is fine as a 3rd string SG. Roberson essentially has rookie experience and is only 24 yrs old. He would be a top player in the D-League, which is what you want, right? Cut him a little slack and have some patience. He will develop with more experience. He isn't touted to be our future, but he is fine for now.

Have you guys seen this stuff at (http://www.82games.com/0809/BYPOSIT.HTM)?

Interestingly, our best position is center. And the Nets really DO have the best backcourt in the NBA!

Nice. Didn't know this detail, which makes the balkman trade better.

Roberson may be fine but the fact is we aren't winning many games this season so why not try a prospect in the D-League that will probably do his job better. We are mostly playing him at PG and he isn't one.

Why not do this? Trade for a SG with the excemption once Marbury is out. Sign a C from the D-League once/if Mobley retires and look for a real backup PG from the D-League to take Roberson's place PR sign PE Jr with it?

Why is Ewing Jr. a 'CRAP' human being? Care to explain yourself? Seems like a good guy to me. Hard worker too...

Anyway, Sergio Rodriguez would be an excellent pickup. How long have I been saying it? Me and nyk4ever have been talking about him as a guy who could help out for sometime now. 6'3", great handle with superb court vision - with regular PT he'd prove to be one of the better passers in the game. No doubt in my mind - HE'S THAT GOOD A DISTRIBUTOR! Definitely a guy that would be among the league leaders in assists with an expanded role over his current bit role with the Blazers. As for the rest of the elements to his game - jumpshooting, scoring off the dribble-drive, defense - he's more than capable. He'd be a tremendous pickup. Such a better all-around talent than Quincy Douby it's not even funny. Quincy Douby = Salim Stoudamire (is Stoudamire even in the league anymore??) If I'm dealing with the Kings for a guard, I'm only interested in Francisco Garcia, not Douby.

Sergio's a true pass-first exciting PG with a much higher ceiling than Quincy Douby IMO. If the Knicks could grab this kid for nothing, great, but if Kevin Pritchard wanted an expanded deal for D. Lee for say Sergio/Channing Frye or Sergio/Martell Webster, Walsh needs to take either deal. Sergio would be salary-controlled right through the 2010 FA period and Webster just re-uped for 4 yrs., $20 million (possible team option for a 5th year), which is quite reasonable for a player with his youth and ceiling. Webster comes with some baggage - he's had an irregular heartbeat at times in the past and he's been out with a stress fracture in his foot. Still, I think he's worth the gamble - I'm sure that irregular heartbeat problem can be controlled with medicine and he on the verge of returning to the lineup from the injury. Like Sergio, with an expanded role, he could be so much more than what he's shown so far. Kid could be the next Glen Rice... And if we opted for Frye instead, you figure we could re-do his deal eventually for far less than what Lee will get - say something more in the neigborhood of Jason Maxiell's deal with Detroit - 4 yrs., 20 million, maybe less. Plus, we wouldn't have to use our 2nd rounder for a big man - maybe go get some more PG help with guys like Jack McClinton (who was awesome last night against Kentucky btw - a little more of a scorer than a true point but he could work on it), AJ Price or Ty lawson if he's still on the board OR go get another shooter like a Robert Vaden (who played very well against Oklahoma at the Garden not too long ago) or Wyane Ellington.

One thing is crystal clear - Rodriguez, Webster and/or Frye would all make nice additions that would thrive in the D'Antoni system. Mike could get the most out of any one of these guys, more than any other coach out there.

A lot of possiblities with Portland. Pick up the phone Donnie and make something happen here...

Roberson's terrible. A 1-trick pony whose trick hasn't been very successful thus far.

Hey I was on Sergio's nuts just as long as you guys if not longer!

Seriously....Knicks need to aquire some more assets.....Donnie can't do much with Jerome, Marbs, and Curry holding him hostage....Mobley's situation may be reaching a solution in a week or so according to Steve Francis via realgm...

Knicks are gonna be making a move soon......I'm hoping before Jesus birthday.

I love Douby- I covered him at Rutgers and I know his game really well. He hasn't done much in the league so far, but if he had Roberson's role here he would absolutely excel. He can really shoot the rock and he can handle it a bit more than Roberson can.

Preach on brotha! We need to get this guy. After watching him again when the Blazers came to town the other day, I definitely think he would thrive in this system - it's just catered exactly to what he brings athletically and skillwise. We really need to go get him and I don't think the Blazers are all that interested in keeping him since they have glut.

I would definitely do one of the two trades you proposed sergio/frye or sergio/webster. I would prefer the Webster deal - his contract is so modest and the kid can shoot the lights out. I'm not sure where he fits in with the current Blazers either.

I would offer up Lee/Malik for Frye/Webster/Sergio. I think those 3 players are taylor-made for this system, we would need to get Frye back if we are dealing Lee because we'd need another big body, but he would fit well (as much as I dislike him as a player.) Lee would fit great with the Blazers and could be the first big off the bench for them with Oden/Aldrige, that's not a bad 3 man big man rotation. I say this deal really benefits both teams.

What makes you say that? I have never heard anyone describe PEJ like that, in fact, I hear just the opposite... that he is hardworking, intelligent, fin to be around, teammates love him... what makes you think he is a bad human? He bang your gf at Gtown?
