Lampe led the knicks in the 1st preseason game in scoring. Maybe this kid is the real deal? Or is this another preseason prospect that becomes a dud during the real season?

It's a fluke that he fell on our laps at 30 ... and it's a fluke that he's 18, 6-11 270plus and shoots like a 2! Any player that can create his own shots at that size is gonna be big. Hopefully he picks up on Mutombo's 'intangable' habits.

Lampe will be the real deal. He has the size and touch from outside which is key. The best thing about him is his age. At 18 he will learn how to play real ball in New York "The Mecca". Plus the guy is tough just how we like them.

This guy is far ahead of Christian Laetner at the same age. L8'ner was a great college player, but slow feet and lack of usable size hurt his stardom. Lampe would be a college freshman!
I am ok with Deke coming if it means moving KT, but not for NVE.

Andrew - what younger player with decent upside to you think we could get for Thomas?
It would be sweet to get a player like Zach Randolf but I think he is already headed towards another level far beyond that of KT. Think we could find a diamond in the rough for KT? Or should we settle for a decent young role player?

I really don't know. Artest seems to be wearing out his welcome in Indiana. He probably is a longshot. Al Harrington maybe? If Pollard is a disappointment the Pacers could use some front court help.

Nick Van Exel seems the best bet at this point... but I don't think Kurt has that much value. Seattle is a team that could use him...especially with Collison out this year.

Well I hope NY has learned its lesson - dont trade big for small. If I were them I would look to package KT and Ward or throw in some of our garbage to get a decent player with some size. Problem is - with Mutumbo at the 5 we dont need a center unless they are young with talent (nobody would give that up) at the 4 if Dyess is back or if Lampe is good we dont need anyone - and KT + Ward wouldnt get us an all star calibur PF. At the 3 we just got Van Horn. At the 2 we have H20. And at the 1...well Vujonic is alive somewhere but he may never come here. Our only true need is at the 1 but maybe they can look to the future for some players - how about getting a 1st round draft pick from a crappy team?
KT and Mutumbo in the front court also sounds entertaining but to be honest with you I have never liked KT. He has a solid work ethic but I think he has always been full of BS.

And for that reason Oasis nobody will give us all-star caliber players for him and ward. Kt is a knuckle head and I would love to get rid of him but for what?

Yes it probably is. Lampe is 18...a rookie and coming in from Europe. Three things not regarded as being pluses in the defense category. He is young....so he has time to learn.

Yes Lampe does have time to learn and Mutombo would be a great teacher.I also agree trading Thomas n Ward.Adding Mutombo n the rest of the big men we've gotten over the summer allows us to go after a pg.I would prefer J.Will(Grizz) young n explosive, then Mighty Mouse cuz his kneez will hold up better than VanExel in the long run. Finally VanExel cause he still a threat.

Been watching JVG Rockets from a far, not saying to much because it's pre-season and he has been letting a lot of bench guys play alot. I still see that team under achieving for him because of the strain he will put trying to force feed YAO and by doing that exclude mobley and Francis from free styling some what . WE SHALL SEE. By all-star break look for a team shake up or Pat Ewing stepping in to break up fights between Mobley and JVG
