if you read his quotes it sounds like he's ready to bolt... More so than any of the other players so far

Suns' forward Amare Stoudemire stood by his comments that he has no preference on where he will play when he becomes a free agent in 2010, the Arizona Republic is reporting.

"I don't ever say anything that I regret," Stoudemire said. "I'm not that kind of guy."

Stoudemire said in the article that he wants to be the focal point of the Suns, and he wasn't sure if new coach Terry Porter's system is a means to that end. He also said he thinks about 2010, when he can join LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade - three players he identified as "featured guys" - in a star-studded free agency class.

"Absolutely! You have to look at those opportunities, because this is a business and you want to explore every option," Stoudemire said. "I guarantee you every owner will explore their options, especially when a player's contract is up. So it's the same for players. It's definitely the same for me.

"As a player, you should look at the teams you might want to play for. The city you may want to live in. The system you may want to play in. The economy. The cost of living. Everything. It's about what's best for you."

When told that fans have taken his words to mean he is eyeing a move out of Phoenix, Stoudemire said, "I have no idea. I have no clue. It will play out how it plays out. Nostradamus is long gone, and there is no one else who can predict the future right now. You never know how it ends up."

Does that mean he has no preference when it comes to staying or leaving?

"No, I really don't," he said. "I just want to win. I just want to win. I'm just trying to improve as a player. As a team, we're trying to get better. That's the main focus right now, to improve."

These guys are under an intense microscope these days and will be for the next 18 months.

They like attention but also need to just close the subject as a business matter that both players and teams always have to consider.

I think Barkley's statement was silly the other day. Players come and go every year and the business side is always apparent. I don't think the Cavs players feel any less for Lebron other than the intense pressure to win and play for their own next contracts!

Wally is not worried bout Lebron leaving, he has his own expiring and I am sure wants to win. He is not getting a big contract next year, but im sure wants to stay healthy and be relevant.

Its best for Lebron, even if he wants to leave to win a championship which cements his Ohio legacy no matter what he does in 2010.

Amare realizes now just how good he had it with D'antoni. But if he comes to NY with Lebron here, he would be second fiddle.

Sweetney >>>>>>>> Amare

Now that we got that out of the way, Phoenix is a cheap ass organization. I'm sure he knows he'll get paid there, but he'll be playing with crap. Imagine if Phoenix had shown Joe Johnson the money? Held onto draft picks? It goes on and on and on.

He's going to make bank wherever he goes and I'm sure he misses MDA's system. I mean, would you prefer Steve Kerr's 1990s bang low style, or easy basket after easy basket?

Considering Nash will be a UFA near the end of his career and can play in the city he makes his home and rejoin the coach that made him an elite player, LBJ or Wade might join the Knicks, NY has to look more desireable than Phoenix.

The only reason he doesn't come to NYC is the Benjamins, which of course is a HUGE reason. But I agree, he seems more than open to bolting Phoenix.

Barkley hates the Knicks, always has. He's constantly bashed us, as a city and organization, during his playing days, and he has been practically school girl giddy as he has clowned the shyt out of us in that studio this past decade. He's one of those silly, I hate the "Norf" country boys --- couldnt wait to get out of Philly.

The idea that we could grab Lebron and another top level free agent, has this fat bastid sweating bacon grease. I hope a chair breaks from the stress while he is on air at the TNT studios. That would give me pleasure.

if the "I just want to win" comment is true then he should have no problem playing second fiddle to someone like Lebron... if it's just a load of BS like a lot of athletes use the cliche & he wants to be the man on whatever team he goes to, then good luck to him.

Having cap space for two big FAs is key. Lebron's smart enough to talk quietly with other big FAs to see if he will be able to pair up with anyone.

Remember, these guys have endorsment deals. The more exposure they get the more valuable they are.

They can create sound bites that draw them attention.

Every city Lebron goes to that will have cap space will have stories about him. That is exposure you can't buy. It makes him even bigger.

Even if he does not leave cleveland, he gets bigger and bigger and higher ratings on Cavs games. He creates sellouts on the road, increased ratings on national TV, and more print.

Amare and Bosch all get attention.
