Stephon Marbury was ordered to stay away from the New York Knicks on Monday while the team looks for a solution to the latest controversy surrounding its point guard.

“After meeting with Stephon and his representative this afternoon, we have directed Stephon not to participate in practice or attend games until further notice,” Knicks president Donnie Walsh said in a statement. “We want to continue to meet with him to discuss a long-term resolution.”

Hopefully this is the last we hear about this issue.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Don't be so sure. Don't forget he now has easier access to his personal press secretary to give those lovable quotes to the Post.

And how many people here give the Post any credit? So not like it matters right?

This is something that should have been done weeks if not months ago. Seriously, how difficult was that to do and without all the nonsense that took place since the beginning of the season.

I am not sure if things are different for players versus management. I think the organization would be smart to make sure that he is not talking to the media.

So much for Berman's plea that the Knicks exercise no leverage on his lover-boy

How's this for leverage, watch your NBA future disapear while sitting at home

Yeah, well, at least it's being done now. With that said, who gives a f' about Marbury?

It could be worse. They could have done it months later. We're still .500 club and still a whole season ahead of us. And wasn't it made clear that dolan wasn't willing to buy anyone out before the season started? So what could Donnie say?

D'Antoni is the one who forced the issue. He's the one who exposed Marbury and forced Donnie to make an uncomfortable move.

But then again, maybe it was all planned from the beginning. Donnie the good cop and D'Antoni the bad cop? And who's going to believe Marbury? After all, he hasn't shown to be trustworthy even before he got to NY. He's only a Knick because he was brought here by someone else who has shown not to be trustworthy either.

In that case, the Knicks can seek advice from the NBA office. And Marbury's new rep should be smart enough to tell Marbury to shut it.

They should have told Marbury not to report to training camp. That would have been intelligent. the handling of this process leads me to believe the coach and GM don't talk as much as they should.

I wonder, if there are a couple more injuries, will D'Antoni offer Marbury a 2 year contract extension instead of the 1 year he offered last week?

***

The worst part of this is that if there was any year Marbury was going to play well and just do what he was told, this was it. He had every reason to do it because it was a contract year so it was in his own best interests to come out and play. And it sure looked like that was what he was interested in.

Now the Knicks have squandered an asset, and for what? They are flushing this year, and the whole team is on the block. There was nothing for him to ruin.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

An Asset? Don't you mean an they squandered an ASS? Come on now, who the hell was going to trade for this guy? Yeah, they may sign him for 1.3 million but trade for him and be on the hook for 21 Million? NO WAY! The only guy they may be able to get is Tinsley, who doesn't make enough money anyway.

Asset! Ha!
