I think Bayless would be awesome here and Frye will put up much better numbers with this system. Portland would be improved with Lee for players they dont really use. That gives us a starting SG you can put Frye where Lee was and we don't walk away empty handed.

Would Portland be willing to sign Lee for the 8M+ to be a backup? I don't think so.

I think there are plenty of people who wouldve done Lee for Bayless at the draft--probably 90% and that is adding in Frye as well. Would Portland pay David Lee--yes they have the cap space. Thats like asking would LA try to resign Lamar Odom SA Ginobli etc... there are plenty of 6th men that are worth the 8-10mm $ contracts. Again these kinds of scenarios --are we going to play chicken with David Lee and end up with 0? I would rather Lee be a Knick but I don't see it with their plan.

That's not a bad trade. Frye's perimter shooting would actually make some sense here.

is the Outlaw for Conley deal likely in your opinion?

if so, it makes this Bayless/Lee deal more logical

BTW, my Lee trade thought was something like Lee for Stuckey and a 1....When the Pistons dropped McD I thought they'd be more apt to go for that.

Stuckey AND a number #1. I think that's a little too lofty.

I having a hard time thinking of many. I'll add that signing someone to an 10M contract to be a backup is different than signing a starter to a big contract and that player slips into a 6th man role. We are talking about a team that knows Lee won't be a starter.

Many players would do better in Mikes system.

David Lee is a very good player. You need 3-4 quality bigs to compete. I think Lee is a clear upgrade--- makes Portland a better team and hedges against further injury to Oden.

I have great difficulty understanding this logic BRIGGS. Why do we want to make Portland better, when we been trying to make us better?

Ugh, the return of Frye. Pass.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
