I've been talking about this kid as an option since last year - and this is when we had Crawford, well before D'Antoni arrived on the scene. This kid ripped up the D-League last year for multiple 50-pt. games. He's a scoring machine and I love the plus size, the strength (check out this kid's build) and the rebounding ability. I actually liked him in the '07 draft - thank God Chandler's worked out so far but this kid is the guy I wanted at #23 in '07. He just hasn't gotten the steady PT from Sloan to show anything in the NBA yet. Instead of just throwing Balkman away for nothing with Denver, I would've liked to see the Knicks go after Almond with Balkman - said so at the time. Oh well... Trying to acquire this kid with our 2nd rounder is a good idea. We need help at SG.

Another option I think makes a lot of sense is sending a re-signed David Lee to Sacramento for Francisco Garcia and Shelden Williams. Garcia reminds me a lot of Brandon Roy. He might not be as strong and wide as Roy but he's as tall (6'7"), he's smooth and crafty with the ball, he can shoot, drive and set up others, can play the 1,2 & the 3 all effectively, and he's long and a decent defender. Just returned from the IR Friday with the calf injury - 13 mins. 1-4, 2 blocks. The Kings just resigned this guy to a sensible deal (starting next year: 4 years 23.2 mil., with a team option in 2013/14 for an addition 6.1 million). That's reasonable money for a guy with his ability and potential. The Kings obviously like him but they have enough depth on the wing with Martin, Salmons and Greene to absorb losing him if they ever got a piece they liked - enter Lee who would make a nice frontcourt backup to Thompson and Hawes - The Kings are on the verge of losing a ton of frontcourt depth at the end of next year with guys like Brad Miller, Abdur-Rahim, Kenny Thomas and Mikki Moore all scheduled to come off the books). Shelden Williams isn't as skilled as Lee, but for what we would need him to do - intimidate around the rim and rebound the ball - I think he could do the job. And who knows - Williams is still young - much like Morris Almond, he hasn't gotten any PT in the league yet to really show what he can do. Maybe there's more to this guy. Is it a stretch to say he develops into the next Dale Davis or Antonio Davis, mybe even a Charles Oakley??? Guy was very effective at Duke...
