http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/11/marbury_passes_on_playing_agai.html
With the Knicks down to just two healthy guards (Chris Duhon and Anthony Roberson), Mike D'Antoni went to Stephon Marbury earlier today to ask him to play in tonight's game against the Pistons. The response was the same as it was last Friday in Milwaukee.

“I don’t want to keep talking about it and talking about it," D'Antoni said before the game. "It kind of follows the same path so we’ll go from here.”

Our old buddy K-Berg had the story first at his new digs CBSSports.com. This will be the last time we show love. Must be nice to blog from the sofa, K-Berg.... :-P

So instead of "small ball" the Knicks will go big. Quentin Richardson can play the two and Al Harrington will slide into the three spot, with Wilson Chandler and David Lee in the frontcourt.

The Marbury Saga appears to be coming to a head. This could be the last straw.

That's all I can share here right now.

we really need to sign another guard if Mobley isn't going to be available.

on the other hand, Memphis is looking to improve their shooting...

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/55690/20081126/grizzlies_looking_to_deal_crittenton_or_warrick/
The Grizzlies would like to improve their shooting, and players like Javaris Crittenton and Hakim Warrick appear to be their best trade bait.

"He has concerns with our team's shooting," General Manager Chris Wallace said of coach Marc Iavaroni. "I do as well. Whether it can be upgraded in the short term remains to be seen.

"Now, we're at a period in the NBA where teams are looking at doing deals more than they are in October and (earlier in) November. Who knows what could occur?"

Rookie O.J. Mayo leads Memphis in shooting percentage, at 43%.

would they trade Crittendon for Tim Thomas?

The Knicks owe Marbs 20 something mil this year...they owe Jerome less over 2 years......lets buy out Jerome and continue to bench Marbs. Makes sense to me.

If Mobley doesn't play -
1. It was a terrible trade - Zach for TT.

2. While I'd love to sign Jr., right now we need a SG. Fred Jones is still not signed by anyone. He played pretty well for us last year ... and can shoot the 3.

I don't know if that means a buyout is close. if anything it may mean the situation may get messier.

I don't think a buyout is close. I think the Knicks might order him to stay home. Maybe taking him out of the lime light and removing him from any contact from the team and the league will have an impact on him. Walsh and Marbury are in a pissing contest and Marbury will cut off his nose to spite his face. This is far from over. Walsh might be smart to just pay him off so that he could sign a healthy player. I don't think he will do that. I think Walsh and D'Antoni would be content to let Steph sit for the entire year. They might release him late in the season when he couldn't be included on a playoff roster.

Yeah, they probably wont buy him out but hopefully Walsh finds a way to trade Curry for a guard soon, then work on a buyout with Marbury and once Dickbury is released we can sign a random tall guy to plug in at center.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

offer up Malik's expiring for Jerry Stackhouse... he's been asking to be bought out but Cuban refuses to do so... he's having a crappy year but i still say he's a decent stopgap solution & his contract expires after next season... it would save Cuban $14 mil if u include the luxury tax savings & wouldn't hurt our cap in 2010.

He wouldn't cost anything!!! We are tanking this year anyway so why not just get a guard who can fill the position for a year or 2 instead of taking on big contracts. I am not for how we are going about this rebuilding. We are really hurting now and as a fan, it doesn't make me feel good. 2010 is 2 seasons away and too much of an unknown.

We do need someone to play guard so might as well pick up someone cheap....therefore Fred Jones.

1. This was an AMAZING trade. I would have traded Zach for a head of lettuce. Let alone an expiring contract.

2. We sign Pat Ewing Jr. We do not sign Fred Jones. We have injuries to J Jeffries, N Robinson, E Curry, C Mobley (if he plays), and D the Rooster. Why are fans SOOOO not patient. Let Tim Thomas and AL Harrington work into the rotation. Let the injured players come back and work their way in. Jeez. If Mobley doesn't play (which he will) then play Q-Rich and Fugazy at SG. Got to give these guys minutes somewhere.

OK - I should have clarified.
Fred Jones to take Mobley's spot if Mobley can't play. or another SG who won't cost much. We do need a SG with both Nate and Mobley out.
I just assume that PE Jr will take Marbury's spot once Marbury is gone. So I am all for Jr.

i still say Malik for Stackhouse is our best bet for an upgrade at the SG spot (assuming Mobley won't be able to play for us this year)... it would save Cuban a ton of cash & Stack would get plenty of minutes here & have a chance to revive his career before he signs his next contract.

I'm quite sure Donnie is looking to unload eddy or jared.....

Malik for Stack makes sense for everyone...but Cuban's guys need help themselves.... Maybe the Knicks can trade Eddy for Stack and some fillers.
