for 2010 is estimated to be 65mm
Lets say we resign Nate to a contract starting at $6mm and Lee to a contract starting at $8mm
Lets say we are unable to trade JJSkinny but able to trade Curry
Lets say we pick up an extra first rounder this year (giving us 2) and one in 2010 (giving us 1)

That puts us here:
Nate 6mm
Lee 8mm
Rooster 3.3mm
Chandler 2.1mm
JJSminny 6.8mm
Draft 09 5mm (2.5 average x2)
Draft2010 2.5mm

Total $33.7mm (giving us about $21mm in cap space).
Thats enough for a max contract and a high 2nd tier guy. Let say Amare at $13mm and Nash at $8mm

Dont sign Lee you have $29mm in cap space
Somehow move JSkinny you have $28mm in cap space
dont sign Lee and move JJSkinny you have $36mm in cap space

65 - 33.7 = 31.3... Where is 21 coming from?

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

quite a few major question marks here, although an interesting take.

i also wonder if we aren't going to look to keep duhon if he plays well both seasons.

you can also see harrington possibly staying, given a few scenarios.

if we only sign one big free agent, then i can see us looking to re-sign al and/or duhon (depending on their performance).

the question is what will both those guys command.

even if we cant trade jeffries right now, we will be able to trade his expiring contract for a good player after we sign lebron & co

i posted this on Solace's thread the other day but i'll post it here since it's more fitting:

looking at the 2010 roster as it currently stands, we will have the following guys:

Curry $11.2 mil
Fishlips $6.8 mil
Gallo $3.3 mil
Chandler $2.1 mil
'09 pick ~$2 mil

That adds up to $25.4 mil for 5 roster spots... assuming u can dump Curry for an expiring before then & re-sign Nate at say ~$7 mil per, that brings the total down to ~$21 mil, which leaves u with at least $40 mil to fill the rest of the roster spots assuming the cap will be at around $60-65 mil or so at that point... that means we'd still have $5 mil or so left over after signing 2 of the top guys to fill the other 7 roster spots.

the trades Donnie made have had such a freakin' HUGE effect on our future flexibility & options to make moves, i can't even understate it... this is why trading Zach was so important, not because he was a crappy player or that we hated him... i'm seriously poppin' major wood over the cap flexibility we just got.

Forget about trading JJ Skins cuz that trade kicker of his makes him literally untradeable.

because I killed to many braincells and was distracted by the pick on my screen of the frauline with the jugs holding a jug.

Your right.. we sign Lee at $8mm, Nate at $6mm and dump Curry we around $30mm in space. Heck.. if we could dump Skinny we could give that cash to Duhon and still have enough for two make guys. Interesting....
