looks crappy bringing in Duhon and moving him 4 weeks into the season. Not a good organization move. Players notice that stuff

Of course we would. Duhon is a rent a player who represents a significant cap hold and we'd need to renounce himi before signing any FA.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Orlando should try to trade Rashard Lewis to Utah for A47.

AK47's great on ball defense would be the perfect compliment to Howard & Turk. Plus he can still spread the floor as he can hit three. He could play a Robert Horry type of role to Howard.

They should also push hard for Sessions in the offseason and let Nelson come off the bench as a combo guard.

Williams,Lewis,Boozer would be a very potent offensive trio.

No - there will other #1 picks to be had.

Once we've cleared the cap the need for #1s becomes slightly less of a requirement because you'll need to be planning on competing immediately in 2010/2011 if you sign 2 major players. So - we will be focusing on veteran players to work in with the 2 stars. Aquiring them for trade is one thing but the need for a #20 1st round pick in 2010 that won't be ready to really contribute until 2012 becomes less of a priority.

Nobody and I mean nobody is taking on Rashard Lewis's MONSTER deal until it's ready to expire in another 25 or 30 years.

This is a bad idea. Why deal a guy who is contributing nicely, who doesn't hurt the LBJ sweepstakes for a late 1st round pick?

no. i don't move Duhon now. you can move him at the trade deadline NEXT season if you REALLY want to move him for a draft pick. he'll only be more valuable then.

trading Duhon is the worst thing i can think of. he's exactly what this team needs and he fits our financial goals perfectly. trading him now would be horrible.

i assume you want to make the 2009 draft pick as valuable as possible by doing this, but it makes the on court product horrible. with duhon on board we can effectively have a shot at the playoffs. that is more valuable in attracting free agents than getting a potential superstar. briggs, you know they're never gonna draft who you want to draft anyway, it's better to keep the team solid enough to compete until 2010.

Well, they can keep Bogans at this time since he is hurt and will be out 4-6 weeks, so this hypothectical trade offer is a real BIG NO!.

Not a bad idea. Nelson really doesn't have that strong a backup in Anthony Johnson who's pretty old now and was never anything special to begin with. Duhon's been pretty solid for us actually but I like the idea of adding another 1st rounder. Where would you go from there though? 2 things - (1) We'd be adding 2 players (neither a PG) to a full roster on a team where the owner now looks dead-set against buy-outs. Might have to toss in Anthony Roberson to balance the roster. Or just buy-out Marbury already. Speaking of, Steph's out of the question to take over at PG in the event we actually did deal Duhon - either he refused to play the past few games or D'Antoni truly wants no part of this guy, whichever you believe - either way, the damage is done & he's not an option anymore. How'd this be for the follow-up:

(1) Buy-out Marbury
(2) Sign Smush Parker for the rest of the season. He and Nate wouldn't be your classic PGs in the Duhon mold, but between the both of them, I think you could get by for the rest of the season. Parker made his fair share of mistakes out there in LA but he was also a pretty exciting player from what I remember. He could flourish in a D'Antoni system once you scrape the rust off. Out of all the FA PGs available at the moment, he might make the most sense in a scenario like this. He's still fairly young, has good size, used to be very athletic, could get to the hole at will and finish and could bury the 3-ball.
(3) Use the 2 first rounders to draft a whole new backcourt for the future in Wayne Ellington and Patrick Mills. Ellington's a 6'5" SG who's arguably the best pure shooter in the draft. Pretty athletic too, can really get to the rim and finish. So far this year he's putting up over 15 ppg (44.4% on threes) for a big-time school in the competitive AAC, this off last year's impressive 16.6 ppg on 46% overall, 46.7% on threes. Not the sexy pick Stephen Curry's gonna make but when it comes to shooting the ball, pound for pound, Ellington's right there with him. Probably more of a natural SG in the NBA than Curry anyway. With the 2nd first rounder you grab Paddy Mills. He's a little small, but like DJ Augustin is proving now and TJ Ford before him, you don't have to be over 6'0" to run a nice show. Kid can basically do it all btw - lightning quick little Aussie that gets to the rim for the dish or the score and can also shoot the lights out from deep. Was awesome against the United States in the Olympics with a 20 pt. game playing against Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Impressive...

Having a new dynamic young backcourt like this in place might look real attractive to a potential FA target like LeBron James in a couple of years... Just one option. Or you could package both picks or the higher 1st along with our 2nd rounder from the Balkman trade or a resigned David Lee or Nate Robinson to move up in the draft and go for a big man like Thabeet.

I think Duhon is the kind of guy that players like playing with, which at some point could work to our advantage. He's playing well too.

He's making peanuts with us, I'd hold off on it.

There's little upside to doing it now. Orlando's pick isn't premium, and the Knicks would do better to wait till closer to the deadline. Barring injury, its doubtful that Duhon's level of play will fall off any- I think it's more likely that he keeps getting better as he gets more comfortable in the O. And now he has more "gunners" to rack up assists.
Question if Orlando offered Brian Cook Keith Bogans and a 2009 or 2010 First round pick that only
