At this point, we/knicks should STRONGLY consider dealing David Lee and someone else for more draft picks and cap relief...

I'd think that some team would take David Lee and Jerome James for a first rounder and cap space...

I do not think David Lee is all that, he absolutely SUCKS on defense and is a good hustle player, but all of our current players are just good "hustle" players. Even Chandler. Seriously, Chandler has airballed like 20+ shots on the season. This guy is supposedly the brightest star we have...

I think pound for pound, Nate and Duhon are our best players, but when your two best players are 6 foot or under (and Duhon is not 6-2), and neither is iverson from 99, it's game over.

I'm not against dealing Lee, but I think you have to try and move Curry or Jeffries first. Moving one or both allows you to re-sign Lee while also making a splash in 2010 or beyond.

Who cares about total rebounds? Lee is JUST NOT THAT GOOD. He's not worth it. He's a brian cardinal type player - hustle, little skill. That's why mike D doesnt like him. I dont like David Lee because he just sucks at defense. I've never seen him make a good defensive play. He does great hustle things around the rim, but for whatever reason gets torched on D.

Package Lee & Jefferies to the Kings for Kenny Thomas and a future protected draft pick.
Package Curry to Miami for Mark Blount & Dorel Wright or Smush Parker.

I agree. Moving James doesn't result in cap space... unless you are moving Curry or Jeffries, I think Lee's best value is as a RFA, where we can get a pick without having to take anything past 2010 back in return...

Lee has good offensive skill. He's a good passer and can set picks in this O. He's defense has seemed to regress.

However, without Randolph, he could easily start putting up those double-double numbers. Be patient.

Here's a trade I would consider for Lee that may make sense-

Lee for Rodney Stuckey and a 1st round pick. Pistons may not get Dyess back and need a contributing PF that can rebound. Stuckey gives us a 2 for the future and a shot a mid-late first.

Pistons are high on Stuckey, i dunno if we could get a pick out of the deal on top of stealing him away... like i've been saying for weeks i'd trade Lee for any one as long as we can get back at least a mid 1st round pick from the deal.

i think lee is definitely the next guy to go. i agree, he isn't that great of a player, certainly not a player you hold onto and build the team around. if they trade him, it will almost definitely be with either curry or jeffries, the two longest contracts left on the books. would miami do curry and lee for shawn marion, dorrel wright, and a 2010 first rounder? any type of move that clears curry or jeffries off the books has to be made, if lee must be included, so be it.

I think we should keep Jeffries and Lee. The Curry for Blount and Wright would be amazing, but we would have to wait until Dec 17th because Wright just signed a contract. Curry would have to show something for Miami to be interested in that. Why would they want the third year when they think they can sign people too. If Curry does good though, they might go for it. Actually Curry for Mark Blount straight up works too.

But honestly Jeffries and Lee will cost at most 14 mill in 2010. We will only have the Rooster, W Chandler, and Robinson, plus this years 1st rounder. Thats another 13 mill tops. Thats 27 mill and 35 mill to sign guys. Plus 6 in the mid level. 35 mill gets you two max levels and even more. Eddy Curry is the last obstacle.

If Lee can net us a nice draft pick in a trade (and he almost netted us the #5 last year), i would look to move him. I think its possible a team can overpay him and put us in a situation where we don't want to match because it could compromise the sweet situation we have in 2010. We should move him now.

I have a feeling though that he could ultimately be packaged with Curry to to get someone to take Curry. Keep Nate, sign him to a fair extension, deal Lee

Pistons wouldn't have traded Billups, if they would give up stuckey like that.

Absolutely not! Curry is the only piece that needs to go now for that extra cap space. Jeffries will be the only player that isn't as desirable as Lee, Gallinari, Chandler, Nate and Duhon at this time and who's contract will extend past the Lebron sweepstakes. But his contract isn't that important to get rid of either at this time.

Curry is the last piece right now.

Marbury
Q
Malik
Jerome
Roberson
Mobley
Thomas
Harrington will end by sweepstakes time. Depending on their seasons, a few may end up being resigned.
I'll never trust this' team again.

If Lee is not "that good" how come every GM asks to have Lee put into the trade. Even Memphis was going to trade their 5th pick for Lee (And also dump Cardinal's salary). Lee isn't a franchise player. He is, however, a very solid player and on a team with a good defensive center or PF, his lack of strong defense is covered. He is also a leader and very positive locker room presense, and he hustled his a** off.

At some point we can explore the Grizzlies trade again. We probably resign Lee and in the offseason trade him there. Who knows...
