This team was completely mediocre, but two of the most important players were traded for trash. Instead of a .500 team, we're getting a .300 team

Remains to be seen. I'm not convinced we'll be worse in the short term. Hard pressed to think of two more overrated players.

I'll bet the Knicks win more than 23 games this year.

Harrington is good and we needed size. He can play 2/3/4 and Mobley actually gives us some defense and shooting as well. Zach's production will be very tough to replace but I really dont see us taking much of a step back.

Before these trades the Knicks were just treading water, albeit with a more entertaining high paced style. Now there's hope for the future and an opportunity for kids who actually have a future with this team to develop.

couldn't agree more... these trades NEEDED to be made to open up the possibilities for our future... there was zero point in carrying forward w/the roster as currently constructed... Walsh made some brilliant trades here IMO, things i've been asking for for a long time now... how good is it to finally have a GM w/an actual plan & who's willing to follow through on it?

How the Islanders are doing?

Thanks ark, glad to see those english lessons starting to pay off. Or for getting back on the wagon.

Islanders aren't losing nearly enough for my tastes. After deciding to go with the kids for the foreseeable future, I was hoping for a top 3 pick in next year's draft. But they've been playing well of late.

Still people underestimate MDA and what he can do with some decent players. To be sure Jamal and Zach put up numbers, but that doesn't mean we can't get it done with different guys. It's not a bunch of scrubs coming in. We should be able to still play respectably and enjoy the capspace this creates. It's a win win. We won't be relying on the draft as much from now on. We'll get some help this draft, but the big prize is FA class of 2010.

I hope that wasn't directed at me, because I was one of the few people that argued that MDA was an exceptional choice to run this team in the offseason, when many were upset it wasn't a defensive guy like Thimbibobbywobbydoo

A team starving for young talent can't not rely on the draft regardless of any plans for signing free agents.

And isn't it beautiful? Rebuilding the RIGHT WAY. And D'Antoni isn't going to let them sit around and accept losing. The guys we have left will fight hard I believe (except Tiny Tim). Duhon, Nate, Lee, Chandler....these guys are fighters. And if we ever get Juinor back, I can see the garden rally around them. Hopefully Tskitishvill....er...Gallinari makes something of himself and LeBron can come join us with one of his best friends in 2010!!

I didn't say we wouldn't use the draft at all, but that it's not our only option now! There's a huge difference from how we had to do things under Isiah. SInce he chose not to go for cap space, we really only had the Draft and making deals for other teams unwanted players. Now you can add players other teams covet to our list of options.
