From the previous experience with Mike it looks like he has no idea how to use big man.
His Euro style is actually focused on making big man irrelevant and abuse the slowness of opponents bigs.
I am not so sure that adding big man to his team will work out.
I am not saying that his approach to the game is good or bad.
But in his system 3 very good small forwards like Chan, Marion, and let’s say for example Artest will be much better that any classic forwards combination.
His big man type is Amare-like centers who are actually a bit overgrown small forwards.
Actually- I think he has been using & going to Zach more in the post than he would have with Amare. I think D'Antoni knows how to use his talent. The reason he went small in phoenix and that he goes small here is he is going with his five best players.
Can anyone doubt he is going with five best? Is Curry better than Zach, Lee & Chandler?
We will know this for sure if Zack will be traded and we will get guy like Marion in return.
When Suns went for bigs Mike run away.
I cannot see any plays designed for big in Mikes system except pick-an-roll.
It is not like he cannot use big man. Looks like Mike is not a believer that this is the bbal he wants his team to play.
He wouldn't mind to have short blocker to have something on defensive end, but size is definitely not his priority.
