Honestly... It's looking like we might be!!!!

I know its early... But we havnt even reached our height in terms of how we are capable of playing.. and we are 5-3.

The only way I see us NOT making the playoffs is if we have some serious injuries, D'Antoni's system is perfect for our talent and its clicking right now. Can you guys honestly see this thing falling apart? Even if Jamal goes off the deep end and gets cold, we have Nate and Chandler to step in who have both been phenomonal...

PLUS DAVID LEE (many say our best player) has been playing like SHIT!!!! I expect him to pick it up soon.......

I don't know.. Not trying to make a BRIGGS-Like knee-jerk reaction post.. this is more in reaction to our overall mindset.. Even after the San Antonio game i was saying dont panic we played hard i was upset but not upset like how i would get thel ast few years after a loss.. Let me explain:

The last few years after a loss I'd be upset cuz we just tanked or didnt come to play or bring energy.

Back in the 90s when we lost I'd be upset cuz things just wouldnt go our way, we'd catch bad breaks and the basketball gods seemd to not be on our side. Thats how i felt after the San Antonio game, I felt like we lost.. But it was a TOUGH loss.. not a horrible demoralizing defeat that we have become so used to the last few years. Granted it was a bad spurs team, but it was a DESPERATE spurs team. These things happen in the NBA.. we still came to play, we just couldnt get it clicking when we needed to.

Look how we RESPONDED. Look how Nate and Chandler RESPONDED to their poor games. Come on, we have something here guys.. All we need is a shot blocker and I think we can really do some damage!!!!!!

The thought of THIS team in the playoffs gets me so excited I think it would be so thrilling and fun to see this exciting ass team with the GARDEN ROCKING come playoff time!!! If we were to some how position our self to play ANY team other than Boston/Cleveland in the first round it would be a VERY TOUGH OUT for anyone we face...............

Im officially hype. LETS GO KNICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets wait untill 20 games to make a call
We will have at least 9 VERY good teams to play after Thunder in 11 games.

vs Dallas 6:00pm MSG
@ Boston 7:30pm MSG
@ Milwaukee 8:30pm MSG
vs Washington 7:30pm MSG
vs Cleveland 7:30pm MSG
@ Detroit 8:00pm MSG
vs Golden State 7:30pm MSG
vs Portland 7:30pm MSG
@ Cleveland 7:00pm MSG
@ Atlanta 7:30pm MSG
vs Detroit

If we will be able to get 6 of this 11; this will be something to look at...

I agree. This could be a very up and down season. We may hit a cold streak in part due to playing better teams. We may make a trade(s) which either help us immediately or hurt us now to help us down the road. But I feel good about the way the players we have now are playing Mickey D's style.

We've had a very easy schedule so far. This team is better than last season and will at least be competitive this season, but I think saying this team will make the playoffs is still a bit of a stretch. The East is much improved this season and you can't expect teams like Toronto and Philly to continue playing below .500 basketball. Thats not even counting Washington who should be playing better and will probably be more of a threat when Arenas comes back.

I'm not saying there is no shot we make the playoffs, I just don't think it is too likely that we make it this season. We're off to a decent start, but we still have 74 games to play and you could say that every team in the NBA still has a legitimate shot at making the playoffs (because its that early).

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

I love this post. I was thinking the same thing while I was watching the game last night, but thats a fantasy (that I hope comes true this year).

Problem is we are so dependent on our outside shooting. We need to have a scorer in the paint to balance things out. So once again we live and die by the jump shot. If the threes arent dropping, we lose the game. The versatility is what makes a playoff team. I feel like we can be very streaky and pull out some tough wins, but at the same time lose to crappy teams because we are so streaky.

However, we are a club of outside shooters, and this system allows for a lot of great looks if we can knock em down. I guess what Im saying is, if we had a legit low post scorer we would have real balance and I would be positive that we were going to the playoffs.

The next 20 games will be a true test, I think we can at least hover around .500 after that, which is a tremendous improvement from last year. No miracles are happening here, but this team is really starting to understand the system and gel.

I'm not going to jump on the playoff bandwagon yet, but I do see us getting at least 1 5-game win streak and 1 5-game losing streak. This season's going to be a rollercoaster from the looks of it.

After the crap I've endured with this team, I won't believe they're going until the NBA announces the playoff schedule.

I will say though, I did go to the Jazz game (and the Roy Jones Jr v Joe Calzaghe fight the night before). The Knicks actually looked like a team! It was so much fun to watch... I haven't seen each player move collectively like that in a long, long, LOOOOOOOOONG time.

So, I will say I do like the Knicks chances of making the playoffs, but I'm not about to start assuming they'll make it. Nor will I give them the benefit of the doubt. Because, well, they haven't earned it.

Zach Randolph is a pretty legit low post scorer!! One of the best!

The key is we need to start getting him more touches IN THE PAINT with his back to the basket, he doesnt need to be outside jacking up 20 footers

i don't see any way they're gonna beat out the following teams for a playoff spot this year, but it's still early

BOS, DET, ATL & CLE are probably shoe ins for a playoff berth this year, which leaves the Knicks battling w/ORL, TOR, IND, MIA, MIL & PHI for the last 4 spots... if they keep playing the way they have they might have a shot at it but i'm expecting this team to come down to earth eventually... but who knows.
