It was the first time a player had at least 30 points and 10 blocks in a game since Hakeem Olajuwon had 31 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks against Dallas on April 13, 1996, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

dwight howard is VERY VERY good. i dunno, i'm not sold on his offensive game though. i wanna see Dwight carry Orlando on his back over Bynum and beat the Lakers or send a message, but he's damn good. of all the players you could build around in the league, i'd take him very early on, maybe take Bron or Paul, but he's definitely up there. it's scary he's so young. but i think he needs to have a coming out party in the playoffs before he's compared to the greats.

Whats not to sell on his offensive game? He averaged 21 points and 60% shooting last year--this year up to 25 now shooting better than 60%. Best rebounder since Rodman and blocks shots like Hakeem and he will get you 23-25 points at 60%+--what else to say--think about this--he is 25-30 pounds heavier than Patrick and 5 times more athletic.

the difference is go to moves in the post. i don't think Kevin Garnett has them either, which is why he didn't win (or really do anything in the playoffs ever) until he found a great crunch time scorer in Pierce to play with. Ewing and Olajuwon did have those go to moves that were basically unguardable and could score when it counted against any type of defense. Dwight can still be shut down on offense. until he develops that unstoppable back to the basket game, he's going to be able to be shut down. he's not as physically dominant as Shaq, i don't think anyone ever has been or will be shaq (and good, because i find shaq to be booooring), but dwight needs a back to the basket move that can't be stopped. until he gets that, i dont see him carrying a team on his back the way the great centers have been able to do.

i think in time, D Howard will be considered 1 of the best bigmen of alltime, but right now he's still got a long ways to go before we can even mention him in that context.

A long way to go before he carries a team Patrick/Hakeem style. He's got numbers- but as crzy says- he can be shut down.

I don't think he is as skilled as Ewing or Hakeem offensively. He doesn't have a jumper, and most of his points come off of his tremendous ability to rebound.

But I do think he will be in the top 5 rebounding leaders of all time. He's got about 4200 rebounds right now, and he's only 22 years old.

Moses Malone is #5 all time with 16,212.

Duke gotta make it to at least the ECF before you can even think about talking this kind of nonsense.
