This should solve any worries about whether zach, curry, Q, craw, etc. will be a part of the 'POSSIBLE' Lebron team in two years.

No brainer for me is:
Chandler
Gallinari
Lee
Nate

There! I expect the others to be pretty much gone, with an additional 11 new players on this team, including Lebron and a couple more draft picks.

everyone else can be traded if we can nab more draft picks or dump bad contracts... hopefully by then we'll have taken a top lottery pick in this year's draft along w/another talented prospect later in the 1st round w/the extra pick we get by trading 1 of our guys.

I like the draft pick scenario but just one thing to keep in mind. If Lebron comes, it will have to be a 'win now' situation for him, because I don't think he's gonna wanna wait for the new draftees to develop. That's why I only picked a couple picks myself.

let's say we can somehow dump Zach, Curry & Jamal by 2010 for shorter term contracts & traded D Lee & Nate for extra draft picks... u'd have the following scenario:

- a top lottery pick in the '09 draft, likely 1 of either Jennings, Derozan, Griffin, Rubio, Thabeet or Mullens
- a later 1st round pick who can play a major role in the coming years, the types of players that are available every year in every draft, just like how we landed guys like Wilson Chandler & David Lee to begin with, & they wouldn't cost nearly as much in the short term.
- a couple developing young players w/talent in Chandler & Gallinari
- here's where u'll pop a woody: enough cap space to land not 1, but 2 bigname free agents in 2010... so let's say u sign Lebron AND Amare Stoudamire... or Bosh AND Wade... u telling me that wouldn't be a win now situation that would appeal to any free agent?

Oh yeah, well, since you put it that way, with those other names, then yes, it's a win now situation. And I just put a hole through my table with that woody thing.

of course i made it up, but hypothetically speaking even if our entire roster is barren after we dump all our contracts, we still will have the ability to field a very competitive team in 2010 w/the draft picks & kids like Chandler & hopefully Gallo developing into good players in their own right... it's not how everyone tries to make it seem as if we'd only have Chandler & no one else for a free agent to play with... that's just plain false.

Well yeah' of course. But a good plan non the less.

I was against Nate last year, but now he's matured and I really like what he brings. Why not try to keep him?

i like Nate too, but if i don't view him as an untouchable... anyone on this team can be traded to gain more picks & cap space is my mindset... i'm not attached to any of them enough to say i wouldn't give them up if we could position ourselves for 2010.

also toss in the MLE free agent we could sign up as well to fill a role... these are all options for us that people try to ignore.
