Anyone else get the feeling that when Jamal jacks up his first 3 pointer of the game (usually the teams first shot.. and his...) if it goes in.. I feel like we have a chance.. if he misses.. i go "uh oh"

Q Rich used to jack up this first shot of the game last year.. and he almost always bricked it.

Jamal: How about taking it to the hoop for your first attempt for once?

Don't want our teams emotions to be based on a fast or poor start with jamal's streaky long range jumper at the helm....

Well the first shot of the game is also usually wide open too. I don't wanna Berman so I'll check the tapes.

Who wants Berman anyways?

I think Jamal's game is built around the free throw line. When he gets a couple points at the line it tends to raise his confidence. Plus it obviously means he's going to the basket.

everyone wanted Jamal to be more aggressive & get to the FT line more... he's done that this year so far (career high in FT attempts per game)... everyone wanted Jamal to show more of an effort on defense... so far from what i've seen, he started out non-existent this season but the past couple games has shown more of an effort on D... everyone wanted Jamal to be more consistent w/his jumpshot & make better shot selections... right now he's averaging 4 less FG attempts per game & shooting 45% from beyond the arc & 44% from the field overall, MUCH better ratio than last season... anything else u guys wanna see from Jamal?

he talked alot about how he was gonna work to improve his game this year & so far that's exactly what i've been seeing out of him.

I agree. I'm one of his sharpest critics. I hate when players say they are going to do something and then don't. His shot selection is much better this year so far. He's taken some bad shots, but with his role that comes with the territory. He has however toned down and is taking better shots overall. I still think his on the ball defense is horrendous, but his off the ball has taken a step forward(along with Nate). He is getting in the passing lanes, and being a pest to some of the post ups. Hs rebounding is still pioss poor, but I'm not going to kill him because he has shown some effort in other areas. I will say that this last game, he actually fought for and stole a rebound late in that game that was big. I said I wasn't expecting miracles from him, and am happy with the progress. The offense we knew would be there, but if he could just be a factor(even a minor one) on defense, it's a plus. I wonder if Nate's on the ball D is inspiring him?

You think Nate's on the ball D has been that good? I've been impressed with Nates D, but I also catch him being a bit slow running out to shooters. I do see Jamal and Nate swarming around a lot though which is what they both have been supposed to do in the first place.

I agree he had a nice deflection that switch the momentum big time. But i also think it's really been a team effort.

defense is contagious like Clyde always says... but u gotta admit Jamal's been playing much more under control & is looking more & more comfortable playing w/in this system... he looked like he was completely lost in pre-season & i think the predominant opinion around here was that he'd never get it... well, he's getting it.

Lets see how consistent he is. His game still revolves around the jump shot, and his J is still erratic. He HAS been more aggresive lately, though, which is good. He needs to do it more.

I don't think Nate's on the ball d has been "that good", I just think it's been better. His on the ball pressure is actually much better. Off the ball, he and Craw still fall asleep a lot. When you see guys get open jumpshots against us where no one is within 30 feet of them, if you rewind the DVR you will often see that it comes down to three main offenders, Nate, Craw and Wilson. they all have lapses where they will lose their man.

As for Jamal. I never worried about his offense. He will have stretches of great play and stretches of poor play. So far in the first 6 games that hasn't changed. I just want him to go from a liability to just a bad defender. Taht's my first goal for him. So far he has.

The only time I yelled at Craw in the last 2 games was his contested 3 with 8 seconds left on the clock when we were up by 11. Other than that, his shot selection has been solid

I know what you mean, he took one shot where it look like Brewer was giving him the hand and still puts up the shot. Reminds me of when Kobe says that Arenas takes a lot of bad shots when he put 60 on the him and the Lakers. He got the 60 but Kobe is right. And you have Agent Blank giving Jamal advice. Be scared my friends.

I think it's obvious this team doesn't have any good one on one defenders, except for Duhon (and he's not making no all defensive team any time soon) But ith the spped this team has deflections and steals are about the only type a defense they can play consistantly
