The bottom line is Othella is not the piece that will win us games. He is a decent role player and I like him, but having him injured doesnt really hurt us all that much. Maybe it hurts a little in terms of getting Thomas less minutes, but there are plenty of bodies on this team that are capable of filling that role. Maybe this will force the Knicks to start looking for a real C instead of guards, pg's and pf's.

Guys--Othella will probabally miss 10 games..No big deal.
I think that the Knicks are deep enough in the forward department
to survive.

25 wins?

Knicks are winning 50 this year.

McDyess is going to be back healthy, Van Horn's offense is going to flourish and Lampe + Sweetney will come into their own.

yes...and cows will fly. While I have no tangible evidence this will happen, somehow I just know it.

We'll see Mike.

I know that us Knick fans have experienced alot of heartache in the last few years, but I think that the Knicks will crank out a quality year, this season.

I dont think that Layden is done dealing yet either.

But the most obvious variable is Mcdyess' knee though.

look, they are capable of having a decent year, but no team in the East won 50 games last year. Do you think if every good scenario happens the Knicks are better than the Hornets, Nets, 76rs and Pacers were last year?

This is actually a good thing.. bad that he got hurt, but this will give, Lampe, and Sweetney more playing time. I really think sweetney will step it up..

Detroit had 50 wins last year...

But if the Knicks have a 100% healthy McDyess, Houston continues to play well, Van Horn proves to be a good fit and Lampe + Sweetney
play like top 5 rookies, then yes, I think that the Knicks could beat the teams that you mentioned in a 7 games series.

Good call on the PF depth chart, Da Mano, I agree.

I also think Sweetney will be a pleasant surprise. Othella will be back, and if needed, will contribute as much as he did last season, but I'd love to see what the rookies can do. Been a long time since you heard a bunch of Knick fans talking about ROOKIES getting them excited...

Its true what Knix says. I mean, what rookie has contributed
after Charlie? John Wallace? Barely.

I think that Sweetney will be quality too, but Im really excited about Lampe.

Imagine if he pans out to be like Dirk Nowitzki in 3 or 4 years..

After Charlie?

As I recall, Wallace was the last rookie to play any decent minutes AS A ROOKIE for the Knicks. Ward barely played for his first couple of seasons.

The last real rookie to play meaningful minutes (at least based on my memory) for us was probably Greg Anthony...

Anyway, Harrington's injury helps open up playing time in our crowded (even sans McDyess) frontcourt. We could see Doleac, Lampe, and Sweetney getting more minutes than usual, and possibly settling in to a starting job or big minutes later in the season.

On of the reason why Wallace didn't continue playing well as a rookie is because of who he had in front of him(LJ). He actually played in spurts well, but to come to a veteran team(ewing oakely) as a rookie with a coach who only knows defense and with Wallace being strictly a offensive player didn't bode well for him. He lost some confidence being in NY after being the man at Syracuse. Now this yr in Miami he gets a chance (rebirth) under Riley.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
