Im pretty sure that the Knicks have spent all of their exception cash...Is there any other way that they could obtain Vladimir Stepania from the Heat? Miami just resigned Malik Allen, so I dont know how interested they are in VS.

I think he would be a good pickup---7 rpg last year. He was 2nd in the league in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes (I dont like the per 48 mins stat though.)

If the Knicks trade KT and Ward for Van Exel, then the Knicks obviosuly need a center.

Starting Doleac and bringing Stepania off of the bench isnt stellar, but I would take that rotation to get Nick in NY.

What do you guys think?

Doleac and Stepania are totally different kinds of players.

Doleac is strictly a shooter. He shys away from contact causing him to be a poor rebounder.

Stepania is a banger, like Ben Wallace (far inferior to him, of course.)

Now if we're talking Drobjnak (Sonics,) I would not want the Knicks to sign him, because of the similarities between him and Mike D.

I don't really know what position Stepania play, but surely his signing would take away minutes from Sweetney, Doleac and the Polish Invasion. No need for him.

The Knicks were DEAD LAST in rebounding last year.

If they lose Kurt in a deal for Van Ex, it obviosuly gets worse.

Sure, McDYess will help alot on the boards, but if the Knicks lose
KT, I think that a guy like Stepania would be invaluable.

Doleac is a poor rebounder and Vranes and Sweetney are obviously rookies.

My post revolves around, "if the Knicks trade Thomas, what big man
can they sign to fill his place?"

Mike Doleac, Travis and Slavko Vranes are not going to cut it in that case.

The Knicks had and ditched Stephania a few years back, when we got him from Seattle for Pat Ewing...

Yeah... we don't need more stiffs. :)
Besides, we already have Vranes, Lampe, Doleac, Thomas playing some center for us... with Spoon, Sweetney, Knight and KVH also getting frontcourt minutes.

I think our weakest spot right now is backup swingman, not bigman.

Yea, besides I think a better addition at center would be Wang ZhiZhi. I think he can thrive here because he will get a lot of support from the home crowd. Its amazing how far a little support could go.
