On another Al-related note, Allan Houston was officially named to the position of "Assistant to the President." He will work closely with Walsh and his job will be to focus on player development and keeping tabs on player-related issues. Walsh has often done this with retired players throughout his career, with guys such as Chuck Person and Clark Kellogg.

Walsh says he went to Kellogg after his knee injuries forced him to retire with the Pacers and asked him what he wanted to do. Kellogg said he had an interest in broadcasting, so Walsh put him on the Pacers radio team.

"I think he's done quite well with it," Walsh said with a grin.

Kellogg, you all know, has become one of the most respected college basketball analysts on television and replaced Billy Packer as the lead analyst for CBS's coverage.

Is there even a question who the next gm/president is?

So what's Houston actually going to do? Make coffee? Mix Gatorade? Hangout at the team's buffet line? Lead the prayer circle?

Or Joe Biden.

Could Houston be any luckier, first he gets overpaid by 50 million and now he's the future GM.

I doubt they're grooming him to be GM. I'm not sure if Houston would even want that. Also I don't think Walsh would use that kind of thinking to choose the next GM.

What I'm saying is that Walsh is grooming Houston to take over for when he is finished in 3 or so years.

Houston never struck me as particularly bright or agressive or assertive or sharp or have leadership ability ... so I can't imagine what kind of skills they would see in him that give them the idea he can run a franchise.

Assistant President?

NO.

Assistant to the President.

haha... they've Dwight Schruted Houston.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
