Please God yes! And also we are still looking at Harrington.

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/55285/20081107/knicks_pursuing_harrington_spurs_seek_curry/
Donnie Walsh is familiar with Al Harrington, a player he has already acquired twice and could bring aboard once more.

The thinking is that Harrington would fit Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system because he can run the floor and spot up behind the arc.

The Knicks are said to be dangling Eddy Curry but a third team may need to be involved to make the trade happen.

The San Antonio Spurs are desperate for additional scoring and may feel they can revive Curry's career by placing him next to Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. But it is unclear who the Spurs would send to the Warriors in such a deal.

The Warriors are reportedly asking for David Lee to complete a straight two-team trade with New York.

Who do you think can get this trade to happen

I think, perhaps a third team. We might get back Harrington but who could the spurs send over GS? This way we can avoid losing Lee, perhaps.
Not familiar with the Spurs roster enough to know??? Outside of GS, there must be another team we could bring in.

Anyone else get the feeling that teams are being less and less tolerant of "problem players"?

BTW, Curry would have something to play for with the Spurs. Having Duncan next to him will sure cover up his defensive ineptness. He might be an... All Star there (That hurt).

The Spurs don't strike me as a team that:

a) would want Curry. No rebounding or D.
b) would make a trade 4 games into the season.
c) are panicing about scoring when Manu has yet to play.
d) need a low post scorer. They have Duncan.

You would be shock to see what Curry does when he is on the Spurs. He would resurrect his career there in San Antonio. I think D'Antoni isn't doing the right thing with Curry he is useful. Curry needs to get in shape and that is all that is needed. He a good finisher and can block shots on an occasion.

Curry would help the Spurs with a big body for TD to not get pounded on D and a low post scorer that would also keep TD from having to bang on the O.

The Spurs might realize that they are staring into the abyss considering they would have to live without Manu for basically 2 months and then have to climb threw the western conference after giving NO, LA, HOU, PHO and Dal a 30 game head start.

Done and Done. I would take the deal as it stands and suggested. Get rid of Curry, unfortunately have to trade Lee and get harrington. Harrington's contract ends after next season and hes only getting paid 10 million. If we kept Lee we would have to give him real money after this year, and that could bog us down a lot. I like Lee, but I would also like the cap room to get some real ground breakers that can fit Dantonis system right. I like it and I think they should do it.

Curry would fit in their system. Only problem I see is his 3rd year, since the Spurs are set up to be players with caproom in 2010 as well. Only Duncan, TP and their two rookies under contract in 2010.

Curry prolongs Duncan's career by taking the load off him for low post scoring. Parker can get Curry all sorts of easy baskets. he'd hurt their D, but makes their offense better and saves Duncan for the playoffs.

problem with the Spurs is that outside of Manu, Parker and TD they have NOTHING to trade. not even any expirings, really. their cupboard is bare after the big three.

Curry he is useful.

Curry's mere presence on the court costs us 16 points a game. He is worse than useless.

Look again at the bit that actually mentions the Spurs:

Sure, they may feel that. Then again, they may not. Certainly there's no evidence given in the piece to suggest the former.

If you're the Spurs, why not? The team's average age is 87 so it's not like they'll be running a lot.

I'd like Roger Mason/George Hill and/or a first from the Spurs. Mason is what Roberson would be if he were actually an NBA player. Geroge Hill seems to be a nice PG prospect, which the Knicks could use. The problem is, the Spurs don't have the contracts to match for a one-on-one deal.

This is the best deal I could come up with:

NY Gives
Lee
Curry

NY Gets
Hill
Harrington

SAS Give
Hill
Bowen
Thomas

SAS Get
Curry

GSW Give
Harrington

GSW Get
Bowen
Thomas
Lee

Maybe it could work. Maybe the other players would provide enough defense to make up for Curry's lack thereof.

A change of scene would be good for everyone.

seeing how the spurs just really need a fill in center (they won with Nazi rememeber) I can see why they would like another option at the 5. He wouldn't be an all-star but he is not a bad 3 or 4th option like he would be SA.

Well Eddy is no great shakes, however the spurs have three things the knicks don't that make him effective. A pg that can penetrate and dish, a pf that is first team all defense and reliable shooters to stretch the defense. I don't think it's a bad gamble for them to throw him in there for 20 minutes a night.

He does two things well one that will be vital to them and thats draw fouls which could be invaluable when they go against bynum/gasol and shaq and amare.

I agree. Curry does not seem like a good fit for them, unless they are looking for Duncan's eventual replacement and think Curry can come close to being that guy (he obviously will never be as good as Duncan). The bottomline is you have to play D if you are with the Spurs and that is something Curry simply cannot do.

I can hear Pop now, "Okay Curry run down the court don't put your hands up just stand there. Don't jump or reach for a rebound. Got it."
