Are people really optimistic about Jeffries? This seems like a guy that everyone hated the last few yrs and then Mike D says a few nice things about him in training camp and now everyone seems to think things will really change for the better once this guy returns. I heard these knick fans talking outside the bathroom last night at the end of the game about Jeffries. I just get a kick out of that.

I'm sure he will help a little but is Jeffries actually someone that the Knicks see as one of the building blocks for the future or more of just a temporary guy?

I always liked JJSkinny. I thought he had some bad luck with injuries in his time with the Knicks. Another player that can't shoot straight but his length and defense will be a welcome change to the Knicks. JJSkinny and The Mayor can make things very difficult for the other team when they play together.

he's a garbage player if there ever was one... 1 of the biggest busts to come out of the draft in recent times IMO... the fact that fans are actually looking optimistically at him this year is evidence of how far this franchise has fallen.

he's out at the beginning of every year and every year we hope he'll hope help when he gets back in December and every year he has zero impact.

i think he makes more sense in D'Antoni's system, but he's sure not going to be a volume scorer or a volume rebounder. maybe he can be a Duhon-like center for us - do the little things right and help the defense get incrementally better.

He can't shoot. He's not a good finisher. He's an ok rebounder and defensive player. If someone's expecting a boost from JJ2, they're setting themselves up for a disappointment. I agree that he'll do better in D'Antoni's system, but that's not saying much.

If you told me to choose between Jefferies and Curry I would without hesitation take Curry.

What's funny I think is that I remember him playing at Indiana and thinking how gifted he seemed offensively at the time and then all of a sudden when he got to the NBA it all dissapeared somehow.

At Indiana, they ran the same offense that MikeD runs now and for Jeffries skillset this kind of offense suits him best - alot of slashing, quick high % shots. This is why I thought he was going to have a big year under MikeD.

I can't figure it out either.....he took his team to the title game in indiana al by himself! He was that good. I just don't understand it. He wasn't this bad in Washington either by the way.

yeah he was... we just didn't watch him as much as we do now... there are plenty of Wizards fans who laughed their arses off when we signed him up to a full MLE contract... his averages have stayed relatively the same his entire career, he just got a few more minutes in WAS than he's been getting here... he's just not a good basketball player... at least not on the NBA level.

People look at him optimistically because of D'Antoni did with Diaw, though most forget Atlanta drafted Diaw as a point guard. Jeffries has some parallels, but mostly that he is big and skinny. I think he's garbage but a possible upgrade in D'Antoni's system in that he won't suck up space and can move around.

i'll say this much, currently he's our best bigman option off the bench, which really isn't saying much.
