I just can't wait to actually have a center again. I never thought i'd be longing for the return of Jared to the line up like this. We could really use a Sean Williams right now.

shotblocking isn't really a system thing. balkman was our leading shotblocker at 38 blocks total last year and we gave him away. we didn't have any shotblockers last year and we dont really have any this year.

unless jefferies REALLY comes to play...

but i dont think blocks are a system thing. camby gets his blocks in van gundy's system, george karl's system, mike dunleavy's system and ... was it alvin gentry in toronto?

lock this post. Now we are going to give D'Antoni credit for Chandler blocks? The guy did it for Isiah last year too when he was in the game. Read his draft info. The guy did that for DePaul.

I don't give him credit for Chan's blocks, but I do think that the Knicks have at times shown they can defend, but it's too little and not often enough to make an impact. I thought they played good D against the Bucks for much of the game, but the offense was so bad that they couldn't get any traction.

Once we ever get shotblocking it will immediately improve the defense, cuz penetrators won't be as eager to go all the way to the rim and that will allow our perimeter defenders to be more aggressive.

One. Wilson Chandler.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

it'd be nice if he could make it a regular occurance, but that seems to be asking a lot. we have no shotblocking is all this proves.

I thought it was as hame that when Chandler went down with his injury during the preseason, Clyde said oh man they just lost their inside intimidator. If I was Lee or Randolph I would take that as a personal challenge that a commentator thinks that my SF is the defensive threat on this team.

All systems need a shotblocker, and yes, D'Antoni expects his players to play D or they are being traded or opted out. Chandler is not an enforcer, but he'll be a Knick for a nice amount of time if he continues showing his promise consistently.

I knew Chandler could block shots. He is nasty and will continue to be more nasty. There will be more to come.

this thread makes zero sense. Because chandler is long and athletic his shot blocking is a product of a system

This team desperately needs a center/pf who can block shots. If you are going to play a Crawford or a Lee, you need a defensive center to help them out. A young camby would be perfect. I also like Sean Williams altough I question whether he is skilled enough to play significant minutes.

The thing is that you still need solid perimeter D or having a shot blocker is overrated. Case in point was there were several teams that stunk defensively, but avg'd a lot of blocks. MDA had the team playing with much better last night. I noted how often they closed out on shooters and got a hand up. Now if they can improve that effort this team is gonna win a few more games.

They need a shot blocker like any team does, but the work they're doing now will have great results when we get a big who can deter or block shots.
I have the feeling MDA is going to get thru to these guys in time.

The Clippers suck I really think you could get them to do a Zach for Camby deal.
