That sucks- Hollinger used to write some great articles for them, and they also had Michael David Smith and Steven Goldman doing some awesome stuff on football and baseball.

I was a big fan of their site- they used Drupal, which is pretty impressive as its a relatively simple to use open source CMS.

I am working for AP and can tell you that papers are dying.
WEB, Cable, and mobile are killing them and soon only handsome will be around. Mostly specialized like Wall Street Journal etc.
