Favorite Knick blunder of last 15 years?

My favorite has to be Drafting Fred Weiss. Why, Tapscott was GM all of 10 minutes and he just blows it. I can see if he was around a few years, but he did just one thing, had a brief window and BAM, just blows it on a Euro-stiff, and French to boot.

Ed is actually a very intellegent executive whom has nice credentials and should do well in Charlotte. In time his name will not be tied to Fred exclusively.

Lets hope Steady Eddy takes either Eisly or Spoon in the expansion draft next year. There is redemption in such a move.

Passing on NENE & AMARE to get MCYDESS who hasn't played in 2yrs & the CHRIS CHILDS plus a 1st rd pick for MARK JACKSON
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

Ed Tapscott skewered his rep with many after that Weis pick. IMO he's in the company of LayDown when it comes to knuckleheaded moves in the draft. Hopefully for his sake he'll live that down with the shot he has in Charlotte. LayDown, on the other hand, is on borrowed time.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

LayDown's '03 draft picks may just pan out. But in a few years when those results will be solidified, LayDown may (hopefully) be long gone...

I feel a need to number the blunders:
1. Ewing trade for worthless players- Travesty Knight all down hill after that.
2. Fredrick "tea cup" Weis, Need I say more
3. Trading Glenn Rice for crappy player even though Rice was on skid row. Eisley and Anderson oh man those killer contracts
4. Signing Spoon a panic move to LJ's retirement, once again oh those killer contracts
5. Chris Childs and first rounder for Mark "sloth action" Jackson does team speed mean anything to the boys in the front office.
6. Layden inability to get Vujanic here or Vujanic's lack of confidence I don't know who to blame but I'm sure there is a blunder somewhere in there.

I'm sure there are more blunders than thatbut these are the one that irritate me.

Okay... the Allan Houston contract and KVH trade aside...

Scott LayDown's biggest blunder was taking the Knicks job in the first place.

...and Dolan's biggest blunder was hiring him.

Second blunder was the firing of Don Nelson.

Nelson's system was to reduce Ewings role and run more. Remember how many times ewing would get a rebound, and he would wait for his point to come around him to get it, that slowed the team down, or would not allow the team to score without him.

Ewing was in decline at that time and Nelson knew it. Checketts was fearful of ewing leaving via free agent and Ewing was fearful of his numbers dropping ahead of his being free and losing leverage in negotiations.

It may have prolonged a healthier ewing, and that was a blunder.

Nelson running the point thru Mason was not effective, but perhaps he would have been traded for someone other than LJ. I liked LJ, and we can't redue every move.

I think the Childs and No 1 draft pick to Toronto for Jackson we terrible. Rice for pricy scrubs was decent. Rice was doing nothing for us and in deep decline. The scrubs are overpriced, but that is not the worst of it.

Best blunder not done. The bust of Vin baker coming to New York.

One blunder that has peeved me for years is not sitting John Starks in the '94 finals. I don't know how Rolando Blackmon fell out of favor with Riley, but he was a proven veteran that could have changed the Knick's fate. I will always feel that the reason we lost was because we didn't use all our weapons.

Pretty much any move since the Dolan/Layden would be number two. The only exception being getting Lampe.

Jesse,

Good point, good someone just not rehashing the same old........

Starks was having an awful series and was messed up by the presure. Ewing also never told how much he was hurting. His shoulder was killing him. I don't think we win without him, and the hurt warrior also is cool, but in certain situations, you might not want to ask an injured player to take the last shot being triple teamed. Ewing famous finger roll was not having that last hop due to end of game pain and being tired.

Miami Fight: Ewing stepping on the court when Charlie got tossed by PJ Brown. Those suspensions cost us that series and probable run that year!

Non blunder-----Grant Hill. We tried to get him, or perhaps we pulled a Steinbrenner. Show interest in player to drive up price other team has to pay. Orlando ended up giving detroit Ben Wallace and Chucky ATkins in a sign and trade. Miami also showed interest.

ONe move sometimes begets or diminishes the statistical probablility of another. I don't think we do the dice trade if we had hobbled Grant Hill on the roster. Maybe something else, or to keep with in the bash our lovely team, Something else even more stupid.

Nedyal, Jesse was referring to the '94 finals...
The Ewing finger roll happened in '95- Riley's last year as NYK coach.

Another MSG blunder could be not giving Riley the power he wanted prior to bolting to Miami.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

He went to Miami and created one of the Knicks' biggest rivals in recent memory. Had that never happened, who knows how far the Knicks would've gone (without us an the Heat beating eachother up in the playoffs during those years)?

Hardcore.

I know it was the finals,

I know when the finger roll was. Your not just being all picky picky with me to antaginize are you? A comma misplaced does not make you all knowing.

Riley did not want the power until he got a sweet deal to go to the Heat. He asked for somthing he could not get, Part ownership of a subsidiary of a public entity jis just now reasonable. He used it as a ploy to bolt. The deal he got in Miami was amazing.

He did a nice job putting that team together, but it was flawed and he burned them out.

You sometimes act like you hate the team! Why do you like the Knicks? Because they are from NY? Can you be critical and still derive any enjoyment what so ever?
