Why are so many fans convinced that we won't get a free agent in 2010?

Moreover, why are fans concerned with keeping players like Nate around (how much better is he gonna get, he's not even a starter) at the expense of shedding Curry?

I just don't get it...please help.
Can someone please defend the rack?

how can you expect the knicks to get a free agent in 2010 if they don't have the cap space to do so?

after they make salary dump deals, then knicks fans will start believing it. but as of right now, nothing has happened on the 2010 front.

and knicks fans are so beaten down by the organization that any little glimpse of possible talent from a young player is the only tangible thing to hold on to.

Lets not worry to much about 2010. The Knicks have to think that they won't need a free agent in 2010 especially if they can develop a core of Chandler, Lee, Gallo and say Crawford does play well under D'Antoni I really don't see any needs but Center position. And tell you the truth I don't really see that much difference between Bosh and Zach. As for LeBron thats a pipe dream. Wade will deteriorate a lot more by the time 2010 roles around. Bosh may be the only one that might be available but thats not much of a difference than having Zach. And walsh is cheap there is no way he give LeBron the money he will demand.

Bosh is the same as zach?

I disagree.

The point is using a guy like nate (potential is a great word as in is he a potential starter?)To create cap space by dumping curry seems to be a very logical move.

I don't get this.

Let's assume there is going to be a couple of teams under the cap in 2010. If Bosh went to Toronto management and was like "sign and trade me to NY or lose me to team X for nada cause they have cap space", do you think the Raps would trade a resigned Bosh for Randolph?

Same with LeBron. Let's say Chandler gets exceptionally better over the next 2 seasons. If the Cavs thought they were in a position to outright lose King James to another team, you don't think they would think about taking a 1 year salary like Curry with Chandler (with more) in a sign and trade for James?

if we threw in about 4 1st round picks w/no restrictions & we still sucked as a team, then i can see it... ain't no way in hell CLE is gonna be signing & trading Lebron to NYC... the only way we're gonna get him is by signing him outright cuz Lebron wants to come to NY, sorry to say... otherwise CLE will have better options available to them via trade if they have to go that route.

Another concept I don't get... One group of fans says "hold on to our young players they could be great under d'antoni" but not "great" enough to trade compare with other sign and trade offers for a star?

It's the combination of over valuing nate, lee and wilson, and the idea that you need something to root for that has me puzzled...

Shaq wanted to go to LA and he ended up in LA. Things happen. Up to LeBron mostly.

And I love those guys more than anyone...I loved chandler from day 1 and lee is lee. Nate I'm still trying to define his ceiling, but if you can move curry you have to really think about including lee or nate especially when you haven't extended them...

i value Nate, Lee & Wilson but none of them are franchise calibre talents... we're talking about Lebron James here dude... u don't think there will be teams lining up around the block offering up their best young talent to land Lebron in a deal if CLE put him on the market?

Well the Knicks have signed one free agent who wasnt a superstar in Houston when they were good. Walsh never signed a big time free agent in Indy and the Knicks blow

like i said it's up to Lebron where he wants to go, but even if he forces a trade to NYC the deal will encompass a lot more than just Wilson Chandler & Eddy Curry's expiring bro.

Well we don't have cap room to sign a MAX FA unless we make some serious moves to shed high salaried "toxic" guys like EC, Craw, Zach, JJ.

The Knicks Blew last year! We don't know what they are this year. As for not signing a Superstar in the past, that has nothing to do with what they would do in the future if in position to sign a Superstar. That's like saying just cuz your 1st wife was ugly, that you won't marry a sexy woman in the future, if she wanted to be with you.
