I would love to get a second round pick for Harrington and an open roster spot [since we only gave up 2 1st round picks and a 2nd to get him]
I think Thomas[and possibly ward] is trade bait at the deadline. I cant see us re-uping him with the glut we have-the new players coming in, and the raise he will look for.
If we are out of it, or things look pretty bleak,I hope we can target a lower echlon playoff team that Thomas would put them over the top. Celtics and Suns come to mind. What I would be looking for is an ening contract and a mid range 1 st round pick 14-18 in 2004.
In the draft---which I believe is THE most important draft for the Knicks and their future in a LONG time--Im looking for us to ACQUIRE one of the C that will be available along with a solid 2 guard.
I dont think we will be in the Okafor range, but I have my eyes on two players
Kosta Perovic 7-3 250 from Sebia and Romain Sato a 6-5 2 guard from Xavier who will be a senior. If we execute bringing Milos over next year, through the draft we wouldve added
Perovic 7-3 250 Vranes 7-6 250 Lampe 7-1 265 Sweetney 6-8 260 Sato 6-5 210 Vujanic 6-3 180 Williams 6-3 200 bringing back IMHO Doleac Houston Van Horn Andersen Eisley Spoon possibly Mcdyess maybe the 2nd round pick which should be an athletic 6-8 player who can play SF or we can look to be opportunistic as well. I like Tamar Slay off the NJ roster, and his contract is dry after this year. This is a better way to control the club. A nice combination of veterans and younger players. This controls overhead, gives us flexibilty and team diversity. We should always have a potential of getting under the cap within a two year timeframe.
San Antonio is a perfect model the way they manage things.
