http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/55128/20081028/report_harrington_asks_for_trade/

Two NBA sources claim that Al Harrington has asked the Warriors to trade him because he doesn't want to play for coach Don Nelson anymore.

He reportedly wants to be traded as soon as possible, but will not walk out on Golden State, who opens their season on Wednesday night.

One source with knowledge of the situation said that Harrington’s agent, Dan Fegan, is "actively working to get (Harrington) out of there" and that a few teams already have proposed tentative deals.

If Eddy wasn't such a fat slob, I could see Nelson being pompous enough to take him, thinking he can change him... but as I said, Eddy is too much of a fat slob to get this deal done.

Eddy for Al would work straight up.

I would include Collins and/or the Balkman 2nd rounder to get this done.

They wouldn't have done this either way.

PS: The only reason I would want want Al Harrington is to get rid of a contract that runs longer than his. I'd offer up Randolph or Crawford and see what happens.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I would do the Crawford/Harrington trade also (and include the Balkman 2nd rounder).

There is no other reason than the one you mentioned to get Al. none. It's a straight salary dump.

Crawford for AL works straight up and is something I'd mentioned a few weeks back. I would do it.

we get kinda thin depth-wise and short height-wise at the guard without jamal. i dunno. it helps the cap in 2010 and Harrington might be a better fit for D'Antoni.

Collins is 6'6. We are even thinner at the PF/C. I would let Harrington have Rose's minutes. As stated I would do either Curry or Crawford and a 2nd Rounder to dump the salary.

Oh, drats, wrong topic. Sorry about that. It is, however, nice Obama footage.

They're not taking Eddy for AL since they have Biedris. They seriously need a point guard and Stephen Jackson is already on record saying he wants Marbs......

Can a AL and filer trade for Marbs trade work? Is it even possible? Does golden state have anymore cash under the cap?

Automatically, Donnie likes Al cuz he traded him and then picked him up again later on. Peeps are gonna say the dude is gonna kill Gallo and Wilsons development....in my opinion the Knicks probably just found a good reason to let David Lee walk if they get AL harrington.

Look at the better teams in the league. Their bench guys can beat some teams by themselves. Knicks don't have any real talent off the bench aside from Nate. Adding a Al Harrington gives the front court a guy that can play all three spots. He completely burries Q-rich on the bench and allows the guys to go 5 deep where all 5 guys are threats to score (lee, zach, harrington, wilson and Gallo). It tells Curry to go **** himself and it lets Gallo know he can pace himself and just learn the NBA and take his time.

I co-sign a deal for this dude.

Al Harrington is not a good player. He is a chucking piece of crap. The only reason anyone would get him is to save money for 2010. He has nothing to do with David Lee. Letting Marbury expire would also be the best idea.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Knicks can't trade Craw for Al harrington......makes no sense cuz the Knicks would have no shooting guard on the roster......unless anybody here considers Mardy Collins ready to be that guy cuz of his height.

The goal shouldn't be to make the team make sense this year, since we're not winning anything this year. The goal is to collect assets and go from there. Harringtons contract expires before Jamal's, therefor making him an asset to us.

i'm having a hard time following ur logic... u defend Walsh for passing up on gaining cap space in the Zach scenario but when it comes to Jamal it makes sense to make the same type of deal?

I don't think you are following my logic at all. I don't think you'd ever get more for Jamal than Al Harrington, therefore, make that trade right now. In regards to Zach, I don't believe anyone of the trades that Donnie passed on for Zach would have given the Knicks the most for Zach's potential value, therefor, you should hold on to him and wait until you can get more.

no need to get pissy bro... i'm asking u to clarify ur stance... i agree w/u Jamal for Al is fair value & i'd make that deal to gain the cap space... but when u use cap space as a justification for wanting to make 1 deal i believe it should apply to other deals that net u the same, actually a lot more cap space & a realistic shot at targetting a big name in 2010, because in the end that's really what this all boils down to.
