here are the 2002-03 NY Knicks -Outscored in the paint 80 of 82 games -DEAD LAST in rebounding -DEAD LAST in blocked shots -4th worst in opponents FG%
And they win 37 games. Chaney lost his best player in McDyess before the season starts. He looks at what he has left, a bunch of perimeter player and 6'8 powerforwards, so he puts a system in place that gives players the best chance they have to succeed. Sure enough Ward, Eisley, Anderson and Houston all have career or close to career years. Sprewell's scoring goes down but the Knicks get 16/4/4 from him all playing out of position.
THATS good coaching, putting your players in a system that compliments their strengths and hides their weaknesses.
Isiah Thomas? PA-LEEZE. This guy go fired because his team underachieved in the regular and post season for all 3 years he was there.
