especially with some uncertainty with Houston. If he misses any significant time-we are assured to start the season like last year and it wil be over by game 10.

I still say we make a play for Larry Hughes--it may have to be a threeway--but wash has a glut at 1-2 like we have at 4.

I saw enough of Lampe to know he is 1 4/5 player.

I'd trade Ward and Harrington for Hughes. What do people say?

I like the sound of that deal too.

That trade can happen...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Listen to you now! Why haven't it sunk in yet, "KNOWBODY IS OUT TO HELP THE KNICKS GET BETTER" That trade will never happen. NY will have to make their own personnel moves with drafts and free agents, unless we choose to give up more than we get back in return. Now who's the real victim? 15 yrs straight in playoffs, teams (GM'S are happy the knicks are not in championship running now.

That doesn't mean that Washington wouldn't make that trade though. I like this idea.

Why in the hell would Washington trade Larry Hughes for ward/harrington. Former Knicks G.M. Grunfeld isn't that stupid. Better yet, he picked up a former Pg. Chris Whitney for cheaper. If he's going to unload Hughes, it would probably be in a bombshell trade or just straight up for another big guy. Washington was discussing a trade for Rasheed Wallace that would involve Hughes, Kwame Brown and other players.

What is hughes contract like?

Does Washington want to trade him/

DOes he fit into a long term strategy?

Last year we wanted to rebuild and tank. Tanking means not filling in every need under panic so we don't over pay. This is what its like to rebuild.....lots of uncertainty, not knowing how the rooks will play, and losing a lot of games.

Last years draft was deep, but this year has some franchise players at the C. Could Laydog use this year to develope his youth and go for a lotto pick? History would show this as a ridiculous statement, but we took three players, should roster all three, frank williams looks to get some minutes this year, we still have our pick for next year, and we have not done anything stupid since the dice trade, especially not trade the 30th pick which turned into Lampe.

Now If we are in fact rebuilding, willing to tank somewhat this season and get a potential franchise center, then I could give a rats ass about what happend the last few years and look forward with optimism. If we start trading milos and picks for a Larry Hughes, that would really suck. I would benchmark this as a successful season if we get a top 3 pick and devleope our youth. That would take vision and patience, two things the average fan does not have.. Now I don't know what Laydog and company would think about that kind of cut in revenue short term, but it would mark a very signifcant change in philosophy than what laydog has been doing.

I think that The Dice trade had its purpose. If he stayed healthy, and other trades or signings happend (one thing leads to another), then we could have had a very nice team last year, gone deep in the playoffs, but never really contended. That would be continuous of the sucky plan that has gone on for years. Or if Dice blows up, we have a few picks, frank, and we rebuild.......If we could get laydog to tell us, then it would be easy to figure, but if we look at the symptoms, that MIGHT be what is happenind.

Keep your fingers crossed, support the youth movment, pray for guidence!

I suggest we send Harrington and Ward to Top Gun for "Maverick".

He can be our wing man.

Why trade for Hughes, his salary and attitude when all the Knicks really need is a backup caliber swing man (preferably young with potential)? Demarr Johnson and the spurs Jackson are available for very little money. I'm not sure how long Hughes is signed for, but I believe the $ amount was somewhere near the mid level exception.

Maybe Matt Carroll could fill in as a 3rd string SG. He showed some improvement as the summer league went on.

Relax there isn't some nefarious plan out there to bring down the knicks. GM's around there league are not laughing at us. They don't care either way. The Bulls, now that's a different story. They won. GM's have a reason to be happy they are in turmoil. The real issue about this thread is that once again Knick fans are creating fantasy trades that will never happen. You can't get a promising up and coming players for Knick junk. Pike's comment about Top Gun is hysterical. That's has the same possibility of happening as this Larry Huges trade.

Damn.... 30 years and counting... That is a damn shame. Hopefully we won't wait as long as the Rangers did to bring another title to MSG.

You can make that 31 years because there not winning a title this year or the next. They may not win one for another 7-10 years. I can't see the Knicks winning a title but I can see them getting the lower playoff spot for years to come. Basketball Gods I hope I'm wrong.

We're a franchise without direction. Horrible, boring players with long term contracts that strangle us like a nuse. I must be a glutton for punishment.
