For someone to suggest that Brown hasn’t gotten his way already, though, would be erroneous. On draft night in June, sources said, Jordan and general manager Rod Higgins had decided to take Stanford 7-footer Brook Lopez with the ninth pick. There was even a call made out of the Charlotte war room to send word to Lopez’s representatives that commissioner David Stern would soon be calling his name at Madison Square Garden.

Despite the fact that Texas point guard D.J. Augustin never worked out for the Bobcats, Brown still wanted to pick him. He was down on Raymond Felton, the ex-Tar Heel guard, and used the final moments until the pick was due to lobby his bosses for Augustin.

They couldve had Lopez and Okafor as a 5-4 foundation yet they took Tyron Lue and a stiff from France. MJ shouldve went with his gut and first inclination there because ultimately LB just wants to get paid and cause problems and it will reflect back on MJ and he had it right for the first time with Lopez. LB is long since past his time.

MJ lost draft credibility when he took Kwame Brown.

I mean not matter what else---locking up Lopez and Ok4 as a 4-5 sets the foundation for a LONG time. You can put Ok4 back into the position he is supposed to be 4 he is 6-8 not 6-10 and next to him you have the next Tim Duncan type player? They could figure out everything else later. The two guys that teams 1-9 are going to be crying about is Lopez and Mcgee.

LB's problem is he's way too impulsive for his own good. You can't keep showing up in your GM's office demanding to trade this guy, trade that guy... Let your GM do his job, you do yours. He's gotta be a big pain in the ass to work with. And the funny thing is he's not a particularly good talent evaluator - suprising for a guy who's been around as long as he has...

Kwame Brown wasn't really a bad pick. Of course, he turned out bad. But he was a huge kid with a big frame & athletic ability. That's what that draft was full of. They went for upside. They missed. But at the time, it was viewed as a logical pick.

Larry needs a GM that will tell him to STFU, not an enabler who's scared of/idolizes him (King), is trying to cover his own ass (Isiah) and/or just doesn't give a **** about the team (MJ). Larry is a good coach when he's not playing GM. He has to be managed the same way you'd manage a player. That's why Dumars got the most out of him. He wouldn't pull this **** with a GM who was secure in his own role.

Bip, they're at it again. How dare you question Larry Brown. The guy is a basketball genius according to Bip. He demanded that Walsh trade Miller. He wanted to trade Billups only days after he won the finals MVP. Dumars just stood there. He told Isiah he had to get Steve Francis to run point on this team because Marbury wasn't a pg. He is a basketball genius.

The one thing I will say is that the Bobcats aren't really in a win now mode so they had to go with BPA. I do think that Augustin has a bright future in this league and even though Felton was already on the team, I think you have to draft BPA when you are in the Bobcats situation. Theres about 4 teams that passed on Brook Lopez, so it's not like they were the only one.

Lopez is a nice player, but stop with the duncan comparisons. Lopez moves like his feet are in cement blocks. The fact that Jordan was high on him was a sign that brown did the right thing in fighting the pick.. LOL..

If LB was in this room with me right now, he'd be leaving with 3 shoes instead of two.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

1. Who cares about Larry Brown? That was 3 -count'em - 3 seasons ago.
2. Larry Brown did not destroy the Knicks, Isiah Thomas did.
3. Knicks sucked with Larry and sucked without Larry. They will still suck this year.
4. Larry may be an ass but he's a damn good coach. I do think the game has passed him by though.
5. Move the hell on already.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
