I was reading about that earlier. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, but it is' a big move. Especially by this Republican who has been so loyal. Some will say it's a black thing, but Obama also got endorsed by a Klansmen. How can anyone argue with it anyway.
This is' big news, even though it was said to not make much of a difference. I'll never trust this' team again.

Powell made a pretty powerful argument about his decision. This really is huge.

And damn' I missed it! I wanted to watch it and forgot about it.
I guess Powell is no longer a member of the Republican Party. That's a big blow for McCain. I'll never trust this' team again.

I don't know much about McCain but the guy just seems over-matched in these Presidential debates & just keeps harping on the same old tired answer for every question. He makes me nervous.

I am watching Rudy G talking on CNN and making the case that Barrack Obama is a liberal far to the left politician. Here's a guy who is cutting taxes for 95% of Americans and he is now an extreme liberal. Its like everybody who does not agree with the most extreme right wing agenda is immediately lableeld extreme liberal or terrorist or both. This whole elecion is a joke, the fact that republicans can still run for government is testament to just how divided this nation is and the level of denial that exists in those who choose to ignore reality in order to vote republican. It would be funny if it wasnt sad. At least Colin Powell showed that he has the ability to think for himself rather than drinking kool aid.

Yes, true. There are a lot of undecided out there, from what I have been reading and hearing everywhere. I think Powell reeled in a few more for Obama.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Redemption for a man who disappointed many with his U.N speech in the lead-up to the unwarranted and unjustified invasion of a sovereign (A word that Bush did not know the meaning of.) nation.
Political blogs had been speculating about what Powell would do. I was almost positive that he would not endorse McCain, but I feared he might remain neutral while being critical of the racially divisive tactics the McCainites have used over the past 3 weeks. Instead, he gives a brilliant, reasoned, honest, and heartfelt endorsement that almost had me in tears. It was clear that he had struggled with his decision, and as I expected, he gave McCain some credit as a candidate, but in the final analysis, this can only be viewed as a stunningly powerful endorsement of Obama and repudiation of McBush/Palin. Some liberals commenting on the Lawrence O'Donnell article at Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lawrence-odonnell/colin-powell-is-ready-to_b_134777.html), which is scarily accurate for an article written 4 days before the actual endorsement, seemed to dismiss Powell's potential endorsement as not that significant. What they don't understand is that while Powell upset many liberals with his performance in the Bush administration, he still remains a respected, and in some circles, venerated, figure in the nation- with Democrat and Republican fans. It will be interesting to see if McCain and Palin even mention Powell's decision in their stump speeches. This will dominate the newspapers and talk shows for the next 2-3 days. The only thing that could make things better is a press conference with Powell and Obama standing together. I know that Powell will not do this, but it would be a powerful and fitting exclamation point on his endorsement. Nobody can have anything but respect for Colin Powell. You better believe that this will sway a few undecideds. I know it would change my mind if I was in the middle.

That is a very important endorsment.
However he isn't cutting taxes for 95% of Americans just because you say it doesn't mean it's true. No one realizes that he wants to tax big corporations, who does that hurt? It hurts the workers and their salaries. Capital gains tax on investments that hits your 401k. He is going to double spending and double the deficit we are in now, his programs all require big spending. New York is going to be hit harder than most states and everyone is going to see an increase in their tax. Blaming Wall Street, when you got yourself locked into a mortgage that you couldn't afford isn't really fair, there are a lot of other people out there besides wallstreet are to blame. No one wants to take responsibility for the fact that the democrats were instrumental in deregulating Fannie and Freddie, the Republicans let spending get out of hand, the SEC and the treasury let the country down, etc. It's very American to blame others for your shortcomings and shortfalls in life. It's a shame the situation we are in because it could have been avoided . McCain isn't going to win, nor did he have a chance to win. |

Posted by MS: Obama's plan cuts taxes for 95% of working families. The idea that he is going to double and triple the deficit is laughable, especially after the last 8 years of the Bush administration. What Obama will do is reduce the rate of the deficit growth. Bring back dee-fense

Posted by MS:That's a Rush Limbaugh line and it's really a bunch of crap. The real reasons we are running such a high deficit are: 1. Bush's tax cut program which mainly helped the wealthy - and that created less revenues coming into the Federal Gov't to pay our bills; 2. The Iraq and Afghan wars which have cost us $1 trillion. (Probably more but this is what is admitted to). -Obama will scale down the wars and defense budget and save hundreds of billion dollars there. -Take back the tax cuts so we will have more revenues. -And he will increase the budgets for education, alternative energy, etc - developing our own country which is where we need to focus our tax dollars. But the increase will be only a fraction from what is saved from defense. We will be running a deficit because of the hole that 8 years of Bush's over-spending has gotten us into. Remember, the year before Bush got into office, the Federal budget actually ran a surplus....from a Dem. President and a Rep Congress who decided to work together. The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.
