Poor Eddy Curry. He sat on the giant blue physio-ball during a break from Monday’s practice and the ball exploded. Eddy fell and scraped and his wrist but should be okay. The ball, which is used for stretching exercises, was pronounced dead at the scene.

And it gets worse for Eddy. Barring injury or the best two weeks of practice of his life, Curry will not be a starter on opening night. Instead, Mike D’Antoni’s starting five appear to be set: Chris Duhon, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson, David Lee and Zach Randolph.

D’Antoni essentially said as much at Monday’s practice when he was asked about making changes to the lineup and he responded by saying, “when I get stuck, I get stuck.”

Curry and Stephon Marbury are the odd men out and it will be interesting to see if they can crack D’Antoni’s eight or nine man rotation. Nate Robinson should be the first guard off the bench and D’Antoni could decide to play small which is good news for second year forward Wilson Chandler. Curry will get minutes ahead of Malik Rose but only until Jared Jeffries returns. Assuming Marbury is still on the team when the regular season begins, he will the fourth guard.

Wow. I kind of thought that was satire when I first started reading it, but it actually happened. That makes it hilarious.

Speaking of pain, a physioball succumbed to an explosive death while Curry was sitting on it during practice.

This is the best news I've heard from Eddy Curry yet. Maybe it will force him into retirement. I wonder how Bernard King is taking it.

those things are designed to hold up to 600 lbs.

What does that say about Curry's weight?

Maybe the ball had some type of material defect and the position he was sitting in weakened it to the point of failure.

I'm not sure whether to laugh at him, make fun of him or feel sorry for him.

That's just crazy.

Every device has its limitations.
For Eddy alike they need to order special heavy-waight resistant ball.
Or may they need to order 2 real man balls for Eddy?

LOL... to have 97,594 posts defending another man indicates BK likely jumped, fell of the wagon, or checked into a mental health facility

This is just more evidence of what we an expect from MDA. He's not going to play the politically correct game of giving guys minutes due to contract. He plays guys based on his trust that they can deliver and help the team win. If and when Curry is up to that task i'm sure he'll get more PT, but in terms of how this team needs to function he's not getting the Isiah treatment anymore. That's a good thing for a change.

Wasn't that the same blue ball that Gallinari was using? So Curry busted Gallinari's blue ball.

Marbury and Curry off the bench?

Isiah must be conniving to undermine MDA by any means necessary. I'm so glad we kept him and Steph around. I'd hate to go through a season without undue drama.

Once he sets his mind, it's a done deal and hard to change it. Exactly what we needed from a coach. No more indecisiveness.

I think everyone is going to touch the ball and contribute. There are no leaders on this particular team, so it has' to be a team effort.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Have renewed faith in Eddy. At least he's trying and if he can get into super shape like the rest, then his size finally will mean something.
I'll never trust this' team again.
