Get off the booze. Tim Duncan had his way with that team in the finals.

Knicks made history tho... no one can take that away. First 8th seed to go to the Finals.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Posted by kam77: But they still lost. It was heartache and houston was on that team. From 8 to be gr8 would have been much sweeter. I'll never trust this' team again.

That was a good time.....still doesnt excuse you from being a douche everyday. Yeah everyone is frustrated, but for once.....this little piece of pre-season we've had is very encouraging. Alot of the players we have are hard to root for, but at the same time they can't be traded. it's not good to be bitter and miserable all the time. memories are one thing buthow can we live without a hope for the future?

I was at that LJ 4 of play game and it was the best time of my life at a sporting event. The crowd was scary loud when that shot went in. As it was in the air you could hear a pin drop, but when it went in we all jumped at once and could feel the building shake! I'll never forget how we all chanted Johnsons name all the way down to the street. We danced on the Knick logo they had painted in the street. Man that was great.
I think we'll see this team get back to serious title contention again. Right now I want to enjoy the process of building this team back up. There's a chance that Chan, Lee, Nate and Gallo could form the core of a perennial playoff contender. Getting the final pieces will be interesting to watch develop. |

Posted by Allanfan20:Posted by 4949: Not for the wrong things though. It was depressing seeing houston and co. lose in the finals and I knew it was going to happen. As a matter of fact, at the time I was shocked the Knicks even won one game. I was hyped at the prospects of that team and then houston had to crash and burn and kept the money. He's also a racist said something about Jews (I'm not Jewish) that didn't carry over well with me or a lot of people. And then Spree had to go a punch his boat and break his hand and then Camby had to go and smash Van Gundy in the face. Crash and burn is all I remember. And they call me a buzz kill? You guys don't know what winning really means yet. A new tradition with fans has got to be established so you'll know what it's like, although I haven't seen a championship in the last 40 years now. But I have been through a lot, lot more battles. And I'm sure just a few of you can relate to that. But it sounds like a lot of you guys, the only thing you have to remember were the later 90's Knicks. I go back to the late 70's with these teams and didn't really pay attention to the championship years of the early 70's, but I remember them. I'll never trust this' team again.

I feel ya 4949. I have the same feelings too. There are alot of people who don't have those memories and can't relate. Some of them think the 90s were the golden years. They don't understand why guys like Clyde and DeBusschere looked down on the Ewing years as unfulfilling. My first memories of the Knicks were as champions of the NBA.

I am born in 82. These were the golden years for me.
Fans who watched the 70's Knicks had it good- they won the championship 2x. I think the 70's Knicks had a better team with more stars (Reed, Frazier, Debuschurre, Monroe). The 90's Knicks had Patrick with a cast of solid gritty players. I loved our starting lineup of Ewing, Oak, Mase, Starks and Harper. We never had to question the team's work ethic, purpose, fundamentals and determination. |

Loosing in 94 was painful.. still is. It would be nice for the Knicks to at least win 1x in our lifetime. I always wanted us to beat Jordan's Bulls. That feat would have brought ultimate satisfaction.

Posted by OffDaMeterzzzz: It was a fun (and at times scary) decade, the 70's. Tough, but fun sports wise. The Knicks and Yankees anchored championships, coming off Jets and Mets championships of the late 60's. I'll never trust this' team again.

i faintly remember watching a few Cosmos games on my black & white television when i was a kid... those cheesy 70's graphics & the "*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* COSMOS!" cheer they used to play all the time.

Posted by 4949:Posted by kam77: So you prefer to root for this team than that team, is that what you're saying? What are you 5 years old? That was the last time the Knicks mattered. Get a clue before you talk trash in here. Thank you, Rick Brunson.
