swap Zach for Darko and Jaric. I think it's pretty easy to see that the combination of Zach and Lee will give them a consistent base so that when we shoot 5-37 we have 2 20-10 type players inside. If Curry can come back and play hard and well on the second unit--this team might be a little over 500 in the 43-46 win range.

Except that Zach's mistakes tonight were disastrous ones which is why he's so frustrating....because...when he's on and in his realm he's great, but, his mistakes are just plain epic disasters! One's you'd think some teaching could change...but..they can't, because, he's a BONEHEAD!

Now, what might happen, is if he finds his identity as our primary chucker, he might have a nice statistical half season, and come the deadline we'll get a better offer than the Memphis one. The Clipper one was great, and, it's been widely reported the Clipps dropped the demand for the 1st rounder, but, somehow Walsh didn't know (lol, how does that happen), and then hence, Walsh being all upset over that trade. So, hopefully we get a better deal.

What we have to face facts here is, that despite Zach's nice stats, he's a disaster in the team concept, and he must be long gone before we could build a winning team.

He's got a lot of talent. All he has to do is concentrate on running the floor getting into position where he gets those nifty close up shots rebound like he can--he seems like he should be able to move the ball better--just stay away from launching 4-5 3s--that is what we dont need. It's been a long time since we had a winning team. IMHO this team has a much better chance of being a fairly solid group with Zach then without him. One effect of taking so many 3s 3s is David Lee Randolph and Curry should get a good deal of point blank shots if we move in out in and cut down on the 3s to 20-24 or so.

Im a little tired after 7 years of losing--I would like this group to play hard and try to win. Usually Im talking about the lottery by this point already the past 5 years. This year I want to win and I think we can do some damage.

Why are they sighing with relief? The whole point is his contract has to be moved. I guess you can say if he plays a little better someone will give them more but I don't see anyone taking a chance on him by giving up anything of value regardless of how he plays. He is too much of a risk to regress back to being the same old player. Furthermore, one preseason game was played and you made 4 different threads and all of them have to do with whatever happened in that game. It is still too early to form opinions on anything. Relax.

But....that's what makes him frustrating...he WONT do that. Crawford won't. Marbury Won't. Curry WONT.

This is what makes these guys so frustrating, BRIGGS!

We all know they have the talent to succeed but they JUST can't DO what they need to do to succeed. They are who they are. They'll rip your heart out. One day showing all the talent in the world....the next day doing everything that makes you hate them. Meanwhile your favorite team goes down in flames as a result.

There's no miracle cure here bud. If they're all healthy and all happy the best you can expect is 35-40 wins and a first round exit. Never going to be better than that. And, you CANT change that no matter who is in charge.

These guys are veterans they're going to do what they know not what they need to do and it will inevitably lead to the same letdown.

I don't know about the players - one game is not enough.
But it is no question that some serious coaching is going on with this group.
They are making some plays (WOW) and try to stay in some system (WOW).
Players come and go but team concept (if team has one) is a constant.
And this looks much much better already.

Granted, under Mike D, it's been "1 game"

However, we've watched these guys under multiple coaches for 100s of games and for the most part they've played the same way throughout so to expect some monumental change in either of these guys games, excluding the 3-yr-vet-and-under club, is probably going to lead to disappointment wouldn't you think?

We lost but we kept it close. It was a victory for our morale.

Even if Lee and Randolph are playing well together, you are still going to need some kind of defensive stopper on the front line. It is scary to think that the best big man defender we have (had) was Jeffries- and now he is hurt. The Knicks have no interior defense- and no matter how exciting this team is, the lack of a defensive minded big man is going to be a game breaker.
