I saw that game Briggs, that kid was very impressive. Yeah, I think there will alot of second guessing in a few years.

There were questions regarding his work ethic and character. These are the guys that normally fall and then "surprise everyone". Picking is not an exact science and a lot of times you pass on a guy because of character issues and then the guy grows up and becomes a great player. Other times you draft a guy with potential and character issues and then he never grows up. It's tough to predict. Scouts are great at seeing talent. Better than any of us could ever pretend to be. But it's difficult to know what's in a guys heart.

I disagree, some organizations are better at recognizing true talent and developing that talent than others. The Knicks have a long, very long history as one of those organizations who don't. It's not a crapshoot as much as you make it out to be.

When it comes to kids who have questionable character issues, it's almost impossible to know which way they'll go. You just can't look inside a guy and fortell if they'll grow up and change or stay exactly the same. Draft wise we haven't picked up a lot of bad character guys, so I don't see that as a problem for the Knicks.

Every draft guys slip through the cracks, but later prove to be much better than expected, so why is this a problem that the Knick's are especially bad at? You could say the same for just about every team in the league.

Dude, you don't have a clue on the issue. The Knicks have a horrible reputation at drafting. The last big pick the Knicks had was Mark Jackson. Hell under Thomas the Knicks actually have players that look like they will last more than 3 years in the league.

Gallinari
Chandler
Balkman
Collins
Fyre
Lee
Robinson
Ariza
Sweetney
Lampe
Vranes
Vujanic
Wright
Chenowith
Postell
Mickeal
Weis
Koch
DeMarco Johnson
Marks
Thomas
Wallace
McCarty
Jones
Williams
Ward
Davis
Anthony
Mustaf

On that list only Anthony, Ward, Williams, Ariza, Frye, Robinson and Lee lasted in the league more than 3 years. The jury is still out on Chandler, Balkman, Collins and Gallinari. Of that list only Charlie Ward has had the biggest impact on this team to date. Of those that I listed Thomas actually drafted the most players with considerable upside. Do you want to list the players that were left on the board? The 96 draft was the most comical one because the next year all 3 1st round picks were traded away. Not for stars but role players. In the 90s Knick scouts were stealing money from the organization.

And they traded him and haven't had a good distributor since. Trading Jackson for smith, Bo Kimble, and picking up Doc Rivers was one of the worst moves in Knicks history! It probably cost us one championship. They also cut ties with Gerald Wilkins and Xavier McDaniel, both big mistakes too.

We can thank Pat Riley for that!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Xavier McDaniel would have been the difference maker when they lost to Houston for the ring.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I'm well aware of who we've drafted over the years. Yes historically we've had bad drafts, but that's not the point of this argument and it's silly to go so far back when you're talking about completely different regimes. The league has changed so much over the long period of time you've listed. There was that period we just ended where teams took players super early out of high school or Europe with little to go on and it has led to a lot of busts. Just talking about the last 8-10 years would be more relevant cuz the way teams draft hasn't always stayed the same.

In every draft there are lots of picks teams got wrong, this is not just a problem for the Knicks. We've actually done alright at finding talent late in the draft of late.

You aren't disagreeing with anything I said. You are simply misinterpreting. Of course some organizations are better at this game than others. Does that change what I said?

This was a discussion about why javale dropped so far in the draft. Not about whether the Knicks were good at drafting.

I swear to god, when I watched Sportscenter and I saw that this guy had a decent little performance, in the FIRST preseason game of the year, I just knew Briggs was going to hit us with one of these threads the next day.

You're the most reactionary, person in this history of reactions. Your instincts are pure hyperbole.

i think jarryd bayless will be looked at as the steal of the draft, but he's in a perfect position and if he was here he would be asked to do too much and looked at as a bust, etc. same with everyone, really.

washington seems in good shape with blatche and mcgee though.
