However, just when you thought it was safe to expect Jerome James to make it through his first of four training camps as a Knick, he strained a quad muscle five minutes from the end, D'Antoni said. Yet, he was also one of the coach's biggest surprises, but in terms of having a role, D'Antoni said, "He's got some stuff, so let's see how it works out going forward. He's somebody I hadn't really thought about a lot."

And someone for whom, with two years and $12.8 million left on his contract, the Knicks would love to find a taker.

I'm sorry, bear with me here...

He will use this an excuse to add 35 lbs.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

BIG SNACKS IS BACK BABY!!!! He was living a lie in camp up to this point, but now he's back to his truest form. We can rely on him to be what he's always been for us. No more of this hustling up and down on healthy legs crap! He's ready to keep that bench warm for us. I mean no team should have to suffer with a cold bench. Big Rome is dead, long live BIg Snacks!!!!

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I think it's only if you have 15 man roster already. And they still have to release 2 guys though and I said Houston and Big Snacks (I love that name) should go. Here's our chance.

I believe this only pertains to non-guaranteed contract players. John Starks is the poster child for this clause and thank god it was there, right?

For Jerome, he's under contract, no matter what happens to him physically we could always waive him or agree to a buy out.

However, if people want to recall, he has not played in some time, and I think the NBA rule regarding medical retirement is now down to 12 months of inactive play.

He last played January 21st. He only played twice last season if you can believe it.

1/18 for 3 minutes
1/21 for 2 minutes

Isiah...strikes again...for if he didn't play him those two games for those ridiculous stints...we could have already medically retired this waste of space.

You are right ... in 2007/08 JJ1 played 4:05 min total in 2 games in Jan. If he wanted a medical exemption to retire I think Stern would approve it. He was injured all of last year. The 4 min that he played - he was just trying to see if physically he was able to play....and he wasn't. So it could easily be argued that he last played in April 2007.

But JJ1 has said he doesn't want to retire. If it is just a muscle pull, he can rest it. He past problem was his knee.

Okay, this is what they should do.

Drop:
Houston
Grunfeld

Buyout:
Jerome (otherwise Ewing should be dropped also)

After this season:
suckbury
Malik are both gone off the books.

That would make it a lot easier to work with for the following season. It won't be a great improvement, but at least a few of the biggest headaches will be long gone.

Unless guys like Chandler, Lee and Galinari can get to another level of play, we will still have to wait for another season before we can finally make some big moves for this franchise.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Yeah, that's more how I see it. It's proof that the cat can't play (physically). I don't think that trying to play (clearly what it amounts to) is the same as playing. I really hope one of two things happen: Either he actually can contribute (remember that one playoff stint before coming here - he can contribute) or if he really can't that makes the cuts down to two.

If Isiah was here he'd immediately go out and sign John Koncak to a 45 million dollar contract to make sure that we had a center.

I was thinking more along the lines of Priest Lauderdale. He's pretty much Curry + 5 inches in height.
