So, be the GM and make your own team...but let's keep things difficult. Assume Marbury and Randolph are staying put... you cannot buy them out or trade them [You can try and play them out of position, however].
You can make one trade [has to work under the CBA and make sense for both teams]... no buy outs. AND, James doesn't retire, so unless you can trade him, he gets approximately $5.2m worth of cheeseburgers to sit on the pine. Oh...and no new salary that will be on the books in 2010.
Create your best 9 man rotation.

Marbury
SG
SF
Randolph
C

Robinson
Collins
Crawford
Chandler
Curry
Jeffries
James
Richardson
Rose
Lee
Ewing Jr.
Roberson
Gallinari
Duhon
Houston

This is pretty difficult and the trade you put up was a good one, I'll give it a go though.

Trade: Jared Jeffries and Malike Rose for Jeff Foster and Jamal Tinsley. I figure since the Pacers don't need Tinsley after adding Jack and Ford, they can use a player at another position and we also get Foster to help us out on rebounding.

So, the effect on 2010 is relatively unchanged... You get a solid backup C roleplayer and a quality PG (albeit one with injury problems). I am not sure if Jeffries has enough value to pry Tinsley away from Indiana, though... you never know though... Walsh may be able to sweet talk something out of his ex...

Tinsley is another headcase with a bad contract. Just say no.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Yea I really don't know what I'd do. The Wallace trade easily trumps mine, I was just throwing it out there for the sake of trying to being creative. Yea, I forgot Tinsley is a head case, compared to Marbury he's an angel though it isn't saying much.

PG-Steph
SG-Jamal
SF-Chandler
PF-Lee
C -Randolph

Duhon, Nate, Richardson, Jefferies(I am fine with him here or traded), Gallo, Houston, Ewing JR(Really think he can make Jefferies redundant and expendable).

I'd just release Jerome.
I'd like to pull this trade:
Incoming Players
Wally Szczerbiak
6-7 SF / SG from Miami-OH
8.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 22.3 minutes
Ben Wallace
6-9 C from Virginia Union
5.1 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.8 apg in 32.5 minutes
Outgoing Players
Jared Jeffries
6-11 SF from Indiana
3.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.1 minutes
Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel
3.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.1 minutes
Eddy Curry
6-11 C from Thornwood (HS)
13.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 25.9 minutes.

Saves us $16 mil in the summer of 2010.

James getting insured out or waived would be refreshing, but realistically, Walsh says he doesn't buy people out. So, unfortuantely, you have to trade him or he takes up a roster spot.

As for the trade, it is a better deal than mine if Cleveland would go for it... not quite sure that they would though. I would suspect they would want a nate robinson or something else in order to take on salary. AND, with the news on Curry's poor shape coming out, I am not sure he is even movable...

that's probably the way i'd go under these parameters... but if i had my choice i'd just trade Zach & Mardy for KMart & Kleiza, send Marbs packing, & have this:

C - Lee / Curry / Turd
PF - KMart / Jefferies / Malik
SF - Chandler / Gallo / Q Rich
SG - Jamal / Kleiza / H20 or PEJ
PG - Duhon / Nate / Roberson

Cut Collins and James. Absolutely no use for either of them whatsoever. Jerome's a disgrace. Let him have his money and turn into Oliver Miller at home.

Starting lineup:

C: Randolph
PF: Jefferies
SF: Chandler
SG: Crawford
PG: Duhon

If Marbury pouts, punish him by giving him JUST enough playing time, so that the union has no case. Maybe 15 minutes. Waive him if it gets ugly. If he doesn't, let him be the first guard coming off the bench. David is the first big. Curry doesn't deserve a minute of play if it's true that he came in out of shape. He's out of the rotation. Therefore, D-Lee is the first off the bench. Nate is the second guard off the bench. Q-Rich comes in for Chandler. They split the SF minutes.

If Marbury pouts and Houston has done some proving, he gets burn. If PEJ pays his dues, and Zach goes back to pouting or Jefferies sucks (Again, but the reports say differntly) and D-Lee continues to suck on defense, then he gets burn, but for now, the above starting lineup is what we got, and the bench is:

Marbury
Lee
Nate
Q-Rich

That's your 9 man rotation.

Houston and PEJ are waiting in the wings, and Curry has to prove he wants it.

I'm assuming that Gallinari doesn't sniff NBA action for quite some time, in which case, he's in his street clothes with Robertson and Malik.

Houston, PEJ and Curry better be ready at any time.

You kind of missed the point about not being able to cut players... I am more surprised by your choice to start Jeffries over Lee? The reports I heard is that MDA will let Jeffries make the team, not that he is better than Lee.

I like Lee more than Jefferies too, but at least Jared can play defense (Or has proved it) and block a shot now and then. He's a better compliment to Randolph.

And yes, I know you said no cutting, but I REALLY want those 2 guys to get cut.

Yeah... would be nice... if I were in cutting mode then you could axe James, Collins, and Rose for certain. Marbury would be on cusp... I only want to see if he has any trade value...
