A small mention at the bottom of this Rudy Fernandez article.

If this is true and Shaun proves healthy and they decide to bring him in would that mean Sergio Rodriguez might be available? And maybe available for a lot less than I originally thought. Thought only McMillan had a problem with him last year, but now, with a sudden interest in Livingston, maybe Kevin Pritchard doesn't like him as well. A guy I've thought a lot about the past few months even before we acquired Duhon. I really think that he's got nice talent. Talented enough offensively though he's always looking to set up others first - looks like a true point guard. Almost the complete opposite of Jerryd Bayless - both are good young talents, they just go about their business at the point a little differently. Sergio's young, has decent size, and is always looking to involve others first. Plus he plays the game with a lot of flair. To me this is a guy you can get excited about. The Garden would love this kid and so would D'Antoni.

Probably nothing to this. But you figure bringing in Livingston to a team that already has Steve Blake, Bayless and Sergio -- something's got to give there, no?

Bayless has been killing in workouts and is going to get a lot more time this year than they originally planned but what does NY have that Portland would want for Sergio?

Maybe a larger deal involving a Lee package for Sergio/Webster. Something like that. I'd do that. Imagine Martell Webster playing for D'Antoni? Man, another guy D'A would love to have. Got the feeling Nate McMillan wasn't completely enamored with this guy either for whatever reason last season. But this kid's a young talent as well. Reminds me of a young Glen Rice. I'd have no problem taking both of these guys off their hands for them. They could use some rebounding and you all know I think Lee's replacable.

Who eventually commands more money, Lee or Webster?

Finestrg, when the hell are we going to get our wish of Sergio?!

If Portland does sign Shaun Livingston, I would think that surely makes Sergio available. Of course you know, since you and I have been all over this guy for awhile now... I say we take a shot at him, what do we have to lose?

Not only does nobody except you and I like this guy's talent and potential NYK, nobody else seems to even have an opinion on him one way or another. Strange. Oh well. But I tell you what, if Portland brings in Livingston on top of Blake (who's a young veteran and a guy they like), Bayless (who's been playing well for them since summer ball), and Sergio (possibly the odd man out - there was a point when Taurean Green was even getting time at the point over Sergio last season), plus Roy who, when he gets back, is a guy they want handling the ball a lot anyway, that really means someone might be expendable.

Hard to gauge what his value might be (could we offer little more than say Pat Ewing Jr. for him or would it take Lee)? Now if we're talking Lee, that's fine, but I might want back a little more than just Sergio, maybe Martell Webster. The only thing I was thinking about before is that Webster's due to get a new contract soon and he might be looking for even more money than David Lee (Webster was a high draft pick, has had some success in the league shooting the ball so far and he still has a relatively high ceiling). Is Webster worth a big contract? What kind of impact would signing Webster have on bringing in a FA in a couple of years? If we can't go player for player for Sergio, would it even be worth it for us to expand the deal? Something to think about. If I'm Walsh, I'm keeping a close eye on this though...

I just wanna say that the people running Portland are a bunch of retards.

I wish we drafted this kid Bayless. The kid is gonna threaten to drop 20pts per game and he probably will average that for his career. Think Kevin Johnson.....check KJ's stats for reference.

Anyway back to the portland retardation. They have this culture over there where they refuse to play guys even if they deserve to. Travis Outlaw shouldn't have to beg to start. Sergio is a top notch point guard and he has footage to prove it on Youtube and stats to prove it if you check his game logs. They are a team driven by control and image.....especially after the Jailblazer stuff. Its nonsense.

Anyway, expect Portland to either never trade Sergio driving sergio back to Europe after his contract is up, or Portland trading Sergio to a team that simply doesn't need him like toronto, or new orleans or some stupidness like that.

Great points Fine, maybe one day we'll get this guy. You and I will be only 2 people with Sergio jerseys though haha.

I think if Donnie is actually interested in Sergio, he would have a bit of leverage since the team has so many damn guards and I thought I recently read some reports of Nate McMillan being down on him, maybe he could use MikeD's system, which would best serve his euro abilities. I'm not sure what we could give up, since we don't have really anyone to match up with Sergio's contract (Mardy Collins does, maybe we can send him and a 2nd rounder for Sergio?) I would love to get Sergio/Webster, but you are right about the whole Webster contract scenario, do we want any part of that? Now I like Webster and his talent, but I'm not really so sure I really want to commit anything to him contract wise with 2010 coming up,since we have to keep 2010 in mind. I'm also not so sure I want to trade Lee for him, it's too much of a gamble. I also think Lee is going to have a huge year under MikeD.

With all that said, I think Webster is a perfect fit for MikeD's offense since he's a great shooter (although his %'s have been down, but if you've seen this kid's shot, it's pure) and with the way D'Antoni's offense is run with all the ball movement, I can see Martell getting a ton of open looks from mid and long range.

We'll see what happens, I'm not holding my breathe though.

Why would Portland trade a healthy guy and take a chance on a guy whose career may be over? Answer: They wouldn't.

If they're looking at Livingston, it's probably for training camp.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Fine, just figured for the hell of it, I'd pump up our boy a bit more..
1st preseason game:
Starter, 27 min, 11pts (4-8fg), 7assts (2to), 3rebs.

Martell Webster, Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw, Jerryd Bayless all played well too... they have to be showcasing him since he started. We gotta jump on this guy NOW.

Yeah I saw the box score this morning bro. I think he was 3-5 from three too. Surprised to see that Roy played, I thought he was hurt. Blake was a DNP - any idea why? Man Portland's gonna be so fun to watch this year. On paper at least, that squad really has no weaknesses to speak of. Call me nuts, whatever, I would offer up Lee/Collins to try and get this kid Rodriguez and worry about replacing Lee's rebounding and intangibles later. This kid's everything you want in a young PG. I would love watching this kid play everyday!

Portland interested in Shaun Livingston? Would that make Sergio Rodriguez available?
