We debated this to no end here months ago....

Here's a new idea from yours truly:
Zach, Q, and Malik for Ben Wallace, Wally, and Pavlovic

Picking up Zach makes Ben worthless with Carrot Top and now Lorenzen Wright in the fold. Q-rich brings better defense(ha ha) to the 3 spot, behind Lebron. Malik will get waived.

Knicks get cap relief all day and a shooter to play back-up shooting guard in Pavlovic. Ben should be a decent back-up behind David and Curry. Wally? You can always use another shooter but he could be flipped later on or flat out waived.

Solid proposal. It is strictly a salary dump move though. I would want a second round pick too. The problem is would the Cavs help us get under the cap when they know we will go after Lebron. One thought is that several teams are going to go after Lebron anyway so Cavs might as well make the best deal to improve the team and hope that winning will make him stay.

If that were to make this deal and make it back to the finals and actually win the title this year.....why worry about Lebron leaving? It was a good run? Wish him well and start over. Lebron isn't gonna live forever....sheet this cat may not even play basketball a long time. He may early retire just cuz he's the man.

Eny, we've proposed this trade so many times! It's about time it actually goes through.

i'd prefer the memphis deal, w/out giving up a pick to them probably because of milicic's defensive help. but this is also a pretty good option. maybe even zach for wally staight-up.

Two reasons:
(a) because that same team that in your scenario made it to the finals would struggle just to make it to .500 the next season without Lebron; and, more importantly,
(b) Lebron likely brings in an inconceivalbly huge amount of money to the team

That actually may work for Cleveland. For us it is just a salary dump. We may want their draft pick or JJ Hickson.

Another player Cleveland wants to dump is Eric Snow. His knees are gone and can't play anymore and has 1 year left at $7 million. His injured player exception starts on Feb 22, 2009 but isn't granted if he is traded. Rumor has it they want to have him off the roster by the start of the season.

So it could also be Wally, Snow, Hickson for Zach and Q.

Lebron could do what he wants cuz he's big willie. Clevland could get left behind regardless.

That's actually a better more realistic scenerio.

it's a wonder why the GM's haven't actually gotten around to discussing it since it makes so much sense for the Cavs to trade for Zach.
