Memphis front office are a bunch of poopheads. They are jealous we have Zach and they don't. I like what Walsh is doing...not bending over for anyone. I'm ok with keeping Zach if Knicks can't get a decent offer for him.

A little OT but no more OT than this topic...

My seventh grader just called on his way back from a field trip with friends to Fantasma, a magic store in midtown. (This place: http://www.fantasmamagic.com/) He was very excited. The conversation went like this:

SG: Dad! Guess who I just saw at the magic store? Someone _really_ famous! You'll never guess.

Me: Um, Bloomberg?

SG: Dad! Someone really famous! I just saw the coach of the Knicks! Mike something.

Me: Mike D'Antoni?

SG: Yeah! Mike! The coach of the Knicks! The new coach!

Me: At Fantasma? Was he buying magic tricks for his son or something?

SG: No way. He was buying magic tricks to perform in the locker room at the next team meeting. He was buying tricks to show the Knicks players.

Me: Strange. Are you sure? How do you know?

SG: I talked to him. We figured out he was someone really famous when he pulled out $100 bills for tricks that the staff at the store were showing him. You know, stuff like putting a cigarette through a $1 bill. Well, he pulled out hundred dollar bills and let the staff poke holes in them and make them disappear and stuff. So, we asked someone who he was and when they said THE KNICKS COACH so we went over and introduced ourselves as Knicks fans and talked to him. He was really cool about it.

Me: Whoa! So what did you talk about?

SG: Well, he wanted to buy easy tricks--you know, Dad, he's a coach and not a professional magician--to surprise the team at their next meeting and he was considering buying a few tricks for some of the players. He likes card tricks and he wanted some card tricks but some of the ones he likes are too hard to learn. He's probably going to buy a trick where you stuff silver dollars into a small bottle. But he might just give that one to one of the players. He said he wanted to lighten up the locker room and he loves magic so he's been looking for good tricks.

Me: So, did you guys steer him toward any tricks?

SG: Well, the staff at the store had a bunch of stuff out and we told him we really liked some of the disappearing tricks he was looking at. You know, stuff like making money disappear and handkerchiefs and stuff like that.

Me: Did you talk about the Knicks?

SG: A little. He laughed a lot when we asked questions about the Knicks but he said they are going to be good and he mentioned that some of the players might know some tricks that are as good as the tricks they sell at Fantasma but they are basketball tricks not magic tricks.

Me: Did you ask for tickets?

SG: Dad! We didn't ask for tickets, we just talked about magic. He was so cool.

i happen to agree w/every word he wrote... the Grizz would be idiots to trade for Zach at this point & i can't understand why they would even consider making this trade w/us unless we were to throw them some incentive to make the deal.

Oh geez. Zach is not a bad player, he can fit on some teams that can use a 20 10 player that doesn't have to be the first option on the team. Either they want Zach or they don't. Memphis FO are just a bunch of idiots really. Giving away Pau Gasol for poop is enough to qualify being an idiot. Theres no need to add any incentive with zach for whatever crap they want to trade to us. Mlicic is worth it? Can't include one of their other pgs besides Mr.Lima? Walsh says no to Memphis, fine with me. Screw them.

dude, this article was written by a 3rd party media source... it's not a story propagated by the Grizzlies top brass... they're the idiots that are actually considering this trade to begin with... they want Zach but they wanna protect their risk by taking on his salary by asking for a 1st round pick... what's so hard to understand here? if this were the Knicks we'd want Walsh to do the same exact thing... i know i would... i didn't want Zach on this team to begin with, & even so we shoulda never taken him on w/o more incentive to do so, like say a 1st round pick from POR for example.

i love how some of you think some other team out there should be as stupid as we were for making that Zach trade to begin with by taking on his albatross contract w/o any other compensation in terms of picks, as if that boneheaded trade we made means we should also expect other GM's around the NBA to be willing to make that same boneheaded mistake... come on people... ask urselves if you would make the trade if you were in that other GM's shoes & then consider the ramifications if that trade goes sour like it did for us... use some common sense.

Donnie taking his time to study the trade. Continuing the trait that got on Miller's, Bird's and Brown's nerves. Oh well. Welcome to Donnie basketball. Patience at a fault.

That article is bang on. Nothing for us to complain about there; except, of course, it does seem we're stuck with Zach.

First of all, I am tired of hearing this Brandon roy told zach to sit down and shut up.. I can almost guarantee it didn't happen that way... Zach is just not the type of guy that would take that from anyone, especially a rookie. If Roy opened up his mouth with his nasal sounding voice and said that to zach he would get floored.. Zach as we all know, just doesn't give a shyt.. He busted ruben patterson chops, Roy is not too good to get the same.. I hate when I hear crap like that circulated.. I don't buy that. Maybe they had words and Roy went to management afterwards, but I doubt it happened the way it was reported..

Considering that's *exactly* why the majority are in favor for trading a 20/10 guy for the pu pu platter, I;d say that's spot on and a great article... hopefully, this guy gets hired to write about the Knicks.

Whether the stuff is true or not....I'm tired of the bashing by media outlets. Why does everyone think they can just bash the Knicks. Don't the have their own teams to cover?

I say **** Memphis.....Donnie is so many words basically said the same thing. Go Knicks!

So I take it you don't approve of the Walsh hiring? You don't seem to think it makes sense to take things slow after the whirlwind speed trades that Isiah made while here? We've got nothing but time here so what's the freaking rush? Why should we just give away an asset before 1st seeing what happens with the rest of the league?

You do realize that teams have injuries during the year all the time? Circumstances change with teams all the time, so I don't believe we need to take just any deal in order to get rid of Zach. What's so special about this season that we need to be in a rush to get it all fixed right away?
