I'll take what he's done so far. There's plenty of time to make more substantive moves. These tho aren't bad interim, short term and future potential moves. Low risk on all of them, with zero effect on our 2010 cap situation.

Compared to what it's been, I'd say he's done a fine, fine job. I know some don't like his moves and have even blasted Walsh. But these are all low risk moves as nixluva said. Some have decent upside. More importantly, all these players fit a team concept and should possitively impact a culture change. But what's best is that there is FINALLY a plan in place and it obvious how the franchise defines progress.

I will say if the Clippers deal (Randolph for a second and a huge trade exception) wasn't made, it knocks my opinion down substantially, as I think that offer is far and a way better than the Memphis proposals. But there is no way of knowing for sure.

In D'Antoni as a coach. -> Who knows if this is good or bad? I've never liked him, but we cant judge him until we see the team playing.

Assets in
Duhon -> Unnecesary and overpaid (yes, I know he is signed for just 2 years).
Gallo -> Who knows?
Roberson -> Unnecesary and probably useless.
Future 2nd round pick -> OK
Patrick Ewing JR (2nd round pick this year) -> Good, though sadly probably not for anything basketball related.

Assets out
Balkman -> Dont care much.
$3 million -> Dont care at all.

So right now I would say "meh" if thats all. Not bad nor good... and thats considering his best move was getting Ewing Jr.

While he hasnt coached a game yet, Mike D has to be the biggest & best move so far.

Let's face it... Why bring in a defensive minded coach to push guys who have NEVER been even decent defenders? In the words of Beavis "you can't polish a turd". So bring in an offensive guru and maximize your strengths, which by all accounts should be putting the ball in the hoop. Curry, Crawford, ZBo, Marbury, Nate are all one-way guys; plain and simple. Based on his experience, our current roster and his rapport around the league, he's a good fit imo.

I did not wanted a defensive minded coach, because of what you said, but while is true that most of our players are decent or good offensive players, some of them can not run. So, yes, on paper Crawford, Chandler, Nate & Lee will improve (and Nate & Lee dont have that much upside anyway). What about the rest? This could end up being a "brick & sit" system instead of a "run & gun".
Anyway, of course you may end up being more than right about that being his best move so far. Like I said, who knows? We are just bored right now ;). I just have never liked his style very much, nor Im sure it would translate very well here, but I hope he does well.

I think only two of those moves count for anything, who he took with the sixth pick and who he hired as coach. The jury is out on both moves but I think he messed up on both. I hope I am wrong.
