Instead of waving Steph to make room for Ewing(I love typing that) I have heard some posters(here and on other boards) suggesting letting Malik walk or trading him. I think that is a good idea(the trading him part). What is Malik worth though? His experience can help a contending team like SA or Dallas-meaning a late first round pick or a very late 2nd round pick or 2. His expiring can help a rebuilding team or a team in financial trouble-like Memphis or Milly meaning maybe a high to mid 2nd round pick.

Bottom line is what is his worth, in your opinions?

A bag of molded Walnuts would be my guess :)

Really I think he's so far down at the end of his career that teams would get more use from a younger option. He's overweight and slower than ever. I just don't see a team caring about him much past his expiring deal.

He's in his last year at 7.6 million. So it would' be a lot cheaper to let him walk. The only problem is, he's not the one with the self defeating attitude.

And in my opinion as to what he's worth? Well, if he's getting what he's getting now, then it's for what he has already accomplished with S.A. Otherwise, in my book, he's worth about 5 mil. as an influence. But then again, who am I to say what anyone is worth.

They say you have to be qualified to be in the top positions, so does that mean Bill Gates got 1,000 master degrees to qualify to make 100 billion? Of course not. Or for any other rich dude. So pay them what they deserve and do it right, because we have a cap to deal with. But then again, that could also apply to dolan who makes stink'n millions and other owners who make stink'n millions. It's no wonder the owners wanted a cap on the NBA. And why others sports have adopted the same philosophy.
I'll never trust this' team again.

What contender is going to get to the next level with Malik Rose?

The closest player I can think of for comparison's sake is Kurt Thomas. Phoenix had to give Seattle a first rounder just to take Rose. Granted, Seattle wasn't a contender. They flipped him to San Antonio for a first rounder. So, the market for a quality rotation-grade big is a first. But KT could rebound, defend, and hit the occasional jumper. He also has a legit NBA body. Rose can only really defend. He's undersized, not a good rebounder, and he definitely cannot hit the occasional jumper.

So, my guess is the best the Knicks could get is a pick at the bottom of the second round... which essentially amounts to nothing.

I'd try to go for a scrub we can dump, along with a draft pick that could turn out to be higher than anticipated. Someone in need of unloading 7.6 mil. after this season.

I think the Knicks can't take on salary so trading him would be tough. I also think that he is one of the guys with character on the team and leadership abilities. He may end up being the center in D'Antoni's system. Malik has more of a role and will contribute more than the fringe players on the team ( Ew jr and Roberson ).

Not sure what you'd get for Malik. He's more of an ending contract throw in.
I just hope that people will like me

i personally think if Malik was given more minutes he could be a solid role player for any team... only problem is we have no need for a veteran taking up minutes at the PF position when we have so many young guys like Lee, Gallo & Chandler who need those minutes to develop their games.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
