DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.
CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle … sighted at 750 yards." Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative." The story began emerging Sunday morning when Aurora police arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell. He was driving a rented pickup truck in an erratic manner according to sources. Sources told CBS4 police found two high-powered, scoped rifles in the car along with camouflage clothing, walkie-talkies, a bulletproof vest, a spotting scope, licenses in the names of other people and methamphetamine. One of the rifles is listed as stolen from Kansas. Subsequently authorities went to the Cherry Creek Hotel to contact an associate of Gartrell's. But that man, who was wanted on numerous warrants, jumped out of a sixth floor hotel window. Law enforcement sources say the man broke an ankle in the fall and was captured moments later. Sources say he was wearing a ring with a swastika, and is thought to have ties to white supremacist organizations. A third man -- an associate of Gartrell and the hotel jumper was also arrested. He told authorities that the two men "planned to kill Barack Obama at his acceptance speech." That man, along with a woman, are also under arrest. The Secret Service, FBI, ATF and the joint terrorism task force are all investigating the alleged plot. The U.S. Attorney in Denver has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon. Yea the country is a disgrace because of a couple of scum bags, try not to generalize everyone.
Although I'm not a supporter of his, he is a great leader and an event like this can't be tolerated these guys should be executed for the sheer magnitude of what an event like this would have done to the country. He is someone that everyone can be proud of and what a leader, especially a leader for his community should be. Thank god this didn't happen so we didn't have to see degenerates like Sharpton and Jackson profit from tragedy, foster more hatred and keep people down to benefit financially. |

Supremacists on meth are pretty stupid.
How were they going to get in? How were they going to get the vantage point and get a shot off? And are they even accurate enough? These guys are lazy stupid fools who need to blame others and are always paranoid about the government (sound familiar) taking over and use that as an exuse to "take up arms" and defend themselves. Trashing your life (whats left of it) because you can't handle that a black man is better than you is pretty sad. I think its pretty much knuckle heads because I would think a well thought out plan would not include using idiots and getting caught in such a manner. I might be naive but I thought there is a long list of people who could shoot any of our presidents for many reasons. Would seem that race alone is reserved for the very low life, and those are the least capable. Lets run it down, Gore would get shot by oil people, Liberman is Jewish, Hillary is a women, Kusinich is a hobbit, Richardson is Mexican, Bush is part of a conspiricy, Chaney is the devil, Reagan gets Hinkley Jodi Foster, Fromm does Ford for her master, Sirhan Sirhan was nuts (I'd like more on this conspiricy) and MLK we have a host of conspiricies. Anarchists with no life would love to have that kind of fame with no real reason! Wallace, a known racist, (1972 candidate) was shot by whom? Nixon supporter? Republicans love stuff like this. It sows doubt and uncertainty. More and more the team of Obama and Clinton a ton of sense because it reflected this stuff. God forbid anything happens to Obama---Joe Biden--while he is a good guy is explosive and impulsive. On the other side you have Bill and Hillary who have been there done that.
