It was more than Gabriel who was recently hired.
Misho Ostarcevic to be the team's director of player personnel. The moves come one month after Brendan Suhr's contract expired. Suhr, who was Isiah Thomas' top lieutenant, had served as an assistant coach to Thomas but was also in charge of scouting and player personnel. Basically, we now have an entire makeover of management. That was really Walsh's first step in the plan to makeover the Knicks. The only person left from Isiah's reign is Glen Grunwald who was brought in late in Isiah's term as VP of Basketball Operations (Really, a level-headed acting or ass't GM.) http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2008/08/20/2008-08-20_knicks_add_pair_to_front_office__john_ga.html From the coaching staff, the only person left is Herb Williams, who is a solid company man and goes on forever inbetween all of our numerous coaching changes. And Steve Mills was demoted. So now the management pieces are in place. Walsh, D'A and crew. IMO,it has been well thought out whether we agree with every selection or not, we now have a new, professional, level-headed management team with lots of experience. We can feel secure that James Dolan has stepped back from the daily management of the Knicks and is letting Donnie and the basketball professionals do their job! Next will be the team - get them prepared to play under D'A. Make trades as they can, but don't sell low. Similar article from teh Times http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/21/sports/basketball/21knicks.html?_r=1&ref=basketball&oref=slogin Also joining the Knicks’ front office is Misho Ostarcevic, who will be the director of player personnel. Ostarcevic was Walsh’s international scout with the Pacers. [Edited by - markji on 08-25-2008 10:15 AM] The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.
